hi guys,

I was attempting to touch up a few scratches on the paint on the passenger door on my silver metallic A4. What I did first though is I used a duplicolor gray primer/filler I got from autozone in an attempt to kind of level off the scratches. (they were deep) However, after several base coats and clearcoats from the touch up pen the dealer gave me, it looks like complete crap. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

When using touch up paint always start small under the hood or in the trunk that way you can see its true color when its dry. Other than that thats going to be a hard fix.

yah, i did try it out under the trunk and it matched pretty good. I have no idea why this came out so bad. Maybe because i used the gray primer underneath?? but wouldnt this paint cover it?

well it doesn't even looked like you clean the surface but I could be wrong.

you may now have to wetsand /compound/polish it to make it blend in better.

It looks like the paint was built up unevenly. Take it to a pro...i'm sure they can make it look better.
