I remember there being a thread on this already ... either way ... I get about 320 miles out of the tank with lots of mixed city and highway miles... mainly city though cause I dont get on the highway much but when i do I get near 400 miles out of the tank.
PS and I'm not stock. See Sig

I average about 24-28mpg (combined city/hwy), depending on my mood throughout the week/tank. (my specs are in my sig).
As for gas prices, I think I'll be filling up on gas tomorrow. Oil prices hit a record high (again and again) earlier today but it seems like DOW Futures are a it up right now- so I'll wait it out, hopefully US currency in FOREX will gain more tomorrow along with it. Might save me a few bucks [cool] (Yes I'm anal about gasoline to a point where I'll only fill up on gasoline based on economic performance)
18.3 mpg according to the cluster computer... but I'm not an A4. [;)]

Although it is painful, it is about time our country starts paying more for gas.

i dont even bother looking at what i pay at the pump...i have to go from point to point and even if gas was 5,6,7 dollars a gallon i will still drive as much as i do. Prices in the US arn't NOTHING compared to here in poland (here on business) they pay right about 8 bucks a gallon for 95 and higher for 98 octane gas. It would be nice to see prices go back down into the 2 dollar range but i dont see that happening with the stupid iraqi war and bush as a president.

Regular is $4.19 here, premium is $4.40
I've always been a Shell-man, but I think it's time I took a trip down to Costco ($3.80 for regular, $4.00 for premium)
Getting about 19-21mpg, mostly city driving, chipped with REVo with heavyass 19" rims

i do truly hope that's sarcasm.
anywho, see sig for car specs. i drive about 70% city/30% hwy. initially i was seeing around 22 mpg, but then i kicked my DIS over to average mpg for the drive, and with much restraint (only goosing it once or twice per drive tops), i'm getting 24-26 mpg. i'm driving to minneapolis this weekend, so if this thread is still alive when i get back, i'll report real hwy mpg.

No it's not sarcasm. There are 110 countries who pay more for gas and the only way for us to curb consumption is higher prices. This has been a long time coming as we have been spoiled with such cheap gas compared to others, like you say in Poland.

dude, exxon just posted a $40 BILLION profit for 2007. start drilling in alaska and start drilling in the gulf of mexico over oil that is rightfully in US territory before cuba sucks it all up. supply goes up, price goes down. simple. but noooo "save the polar bears!" please. a pumping station up there would be like a marble in a baseball stadium. you wouldn't even notice it unless you were standing right on top of it. oh yeah, let's sue OPEC, too. cause suing the people controlling the prices, "forcing" them to pay us (ie. the govt) money back, won't increase the price of oil at all. nevermind that we get most of our oil from canada.
on top of that, do you listen to yourself? you're on the audi forums. cars that are, at last count, not hybrid at all. if you're worried about consumption of oil, do your part by selling your car and buying a bike that was manufactured in such a way that zero oil was used. while you're at it, go join http://www.cyclingforums.com/.

The thing about America compared to other countries is that our country was built around the Automobile whereas a lot of European countries were built on public transportation and foot traffic. Unfortunately for us, (Americans) we have been spoiled when it comes to gas prices but there really isn't any other way to live over here.

I have very strong feeling on the topic of oil prices...so I'll keep this short. First to contribute to the thread, I'm not an Audi owner yet (hopefully soon), but my 05' Jeep GC Limited 5.7L Hemi gets 12.3 city and about 14 highway. Hows that for pain at the pump!!
Economies show that oil should be approximately $50 to $55 per barrell. That's what supply and demand forecasts. So why is oil more than twice that? Oil execs were at the Senate yesterday trying to explain why they are making RECORD profits, and the consumer is suffering. $40 billion in profits. Thats profits. After taxes, after expenses. What do they need to make $40 billion for? To whord in a bank? It's rediculous. As some senator pointed out...the people that those execs represent are profiting, while they people they represent (senators) are suffering...and for no good reason.
We're spoiled at $2 or $3 a gallon? How about countries (and there's lots of them), that pay $ .40 a gallon, or $ .18 a gallon? Gas costs more in Europe, but guess what, they travel less, so the actual COST is similar. Here you go from state to state, there you go from country to country.
Oil should be at $55 a barrell. Bush is making his $ before he gets out of office. That's what I think is going on. There shouldn't be a conflict of interest in office, and that's exactly what we have.
End rant.

I got 33mpg on my trip to NYC this past weekend. I avg about 380-450 on a full tank. Love that 4cyl!
As for the gas, what a mess with no end in site. Exxon Mobil merges in about a month, but Sirius and XM cant in a year and a half over a fear of a monopoly. Govt is F'd in this country right now. [down]
Can someone tell me why 45 octane diesel fuel costs even more than gas? Other than price gouging based on the rise in diesel auto/trucks of course...

All I have to say is, if you're so smart and you think you know so well why the price of oil (and gasoline) is as high as it is today and where it's going in the future, why don't you bet on it??? Hey man, no one was making a reference to you...I think you have a decent understanding of what's going on. [:)]
And FYI, it doesn't matter how rational, logical or educated your "moves" or whether they're based on technical analysis, fundamental analysis, subjective analysis or whether you're just rolling the die, every time you make a "move" with the expectation of a future outcome, you're making a bet since the future is always an unknown. Also, the market doesn't always mean the "stock market".

I know! My post wasn't directed at you- but at the general masses [:D], I apologize for the way it was stated since you felt that I had taken up some sort of direction at you. But I do appreciate the effort you put into digging up those ancient threads! (and now it's up to everyone use to either read it and learn or be lazy and therefore stupid)
And I should emphasize further that when I make reference to "market trades", that involves everything involving all various types of securities, futures, derivatives, commodities, forex, etc.
It's very sad, there was a poll on CNBC recently that surveyed the population as to "Do they understand how America's capitalist system works? And do they care to understand?". An overwhelming (overwhelming number to me at least) amount from the sampled said they did not know & did not care. And this is where I become cynical and my sarcasm would usually convey it...so I'll just stop.

I get about 28 MPG with my regular driving. A lot of highway. On the highway I get between 32-34 MPG, depending on if I'm going up to ATL or headed back to Macon. 32 on the way up, as it's semi-up hill. 34, sometimes 35, on the way back because of the opposite reason.

Last fill up I was at 27 MPG, with probably 30% highway driving. I'm bone stock and usually drive pretty conservatively, only getting on it occasionally.
As far as gas prices, I'm sorry but I fail to believe any conventional economic model is going to convey those trends. Oil execs claim that their profits are "on par with other industries." Name one other product that has quintupled in price over the past 6 years. The price for a barrel of crude oil in 2002 was $24.09 and the national average per gallon was about $1.35...today at close it was $131.16, and we all know what the average per gallon price is. And the whole demand thing is a load of crap. Demand in the U.S. grew 1% from 2006 to 2007, and has grown less than 2% three years in a row. And we use a quarter of the world's oil, so demand is not increasing that much. Production has dropped by a fraction of a percent, so I can understand a small jump in price. And they continue posting record profits, and get tax breaks. Has the rest of the world been paying more, yes absolutely, but they didn't get raped with a massive increase in a short period of time. And like someone said, Europe was set up for public transportation. If I could take a train, bus, or cab to work, I would. I refuse to believe almost any of what the oil execs or politicians say about the whole thing, and believe that greed is 90% of the driving force behind it. Unfortunately, none of us will ever know the real answers, unless someone becomes an oil exec...and then they better give AZ members a break!

i got 350 miles on my tank before the 1/8th tank warning came on. all i have is drop-in filter and chip. 60% or so highway, and a quarter of that highway time is stuck in traffic, and the other part is not being too kind to the throttle.

i get about 380-420 a tank.....2.0t stock
if i do all highway ive seen it say 450........
how to save at the pump
-inflate tires properly
-change oil regularly
-accelerate slow
-don't idle unless necessary
-pump in the morning or at night (as gas heats up it expands so you'll get less in your tank)
-don't pump on full blast, pump slow this allows for more gas in your tank.
know your tank size if you pump and its more gallons then your tank tell the station and get your money back ! not your fault their pumps aren't accurate

keep in mind, that china just recently in the last 10 or so years people have been able to afford cars very there. If you compare vehicle vs bicycle 10 year ago there was a huge margin now that people are buying cars things are starting to shift. Countries just like the US need to start focusing on alternative fuels rather than trying to control oil fields in other countries. Sueing OPEC will only create a even more hostile relationship between the US and the mid-east and could create a oil embargo which then you would see prices about even with europe. If your crying about gas prices go ride a bike. I'm happy to see the diesels are finally coming to the US cause right now i'm driving a 1.6L mercedes diesel and i get 40's driving 80% city. My brother when he was here drove 350km and got over 60mpg driving the speed limit and around 50mpg driving fast.

so lets be realistic... throw away those stupid sticker window mpgs.... is a 2.0t just as good on gas as a nissan such as an altima or even a honda accord? (ignore that they use different gas.. just going on plain user numbers.. better gas= $3.20 more a tank so dont really care)
my accord coupe got like 400+ a tank but a bigger tank....i think they are about even though.....
2.0t personal best was 430 miles a tank- 16 gallon tank (26.25 mpg)
04 accord coupe personal best was 530.... - almost 19 gallon tank (27.89 mpg)
i haven't missed my coupe one bit and don't mind the premium fuel cost...its small for a huge upgrade in ride

32.6mpg at my last fill up driving ~65mph 70% highway. 2.0T Quattro 6spd. After I get off the highway to fill up my total trip mpg estimate reads 36-40mpg. I fill up and my distance to empty estimate is 640-660 miles! That would be nice.
As far as the oil economics debate; I have plenty of my own arm chair economics opinions to contribute but at the risk of getting my head bit off by either side I'll just say this. There is a factor here none of us are seeing. That we probably aren't meant to see and that history will probably uncover after all the conspiracy nuts and Michael Moores of the world take a shot at it. It will probably be real obvious then, what was going on now. I'm not a betting man, but I would bet on that.

I'm glad somebody gets it! I wish more ppl would realize the real reasons gas prices are so high.
Although it is painful, it is about time our country starts paying more for gas.
Dumbest thing I've heard all day.
I don't see why everyone hates on the oil companies so much. They're selling more gas than ever, so of course there profits are high. The profits are right in line with the rest of the fortune 500 companies. Time to increase supply by drilling and refining our own country's oil! If only the environmentalists and democrats would let us...

so lets be realistic... throw away those stupid sticker window mpgs.... is a 2.0t just as good on gas as a nissan such as an altima or even a honda accord? (ignore that they use different gas.. just going on plain user numbers.. better gas= $3.20 more a tank so dont really care)
The new Accord is 21/29 so yes, my Audi is better on gas.

my 1.8T does ok.... i have slowed to about 75 on the highway as opposed to 80-85.
as long as my RPM's are under 3K, the mileage is ok, once it goes above that...EHHH
