Apple Cider

Just broke a bottle of apple cider in the trunk carpet of my b5 avant. What kind of chemicals could I use to get the smell and possible stain away? I have 3 towels over that spot right now.

Ive always heard that leaving a couple oz's of vinegar in a container in your car overnight for a few days would kill most smells. As far as removing the stain I have no suggestions.

I wonder how expensive it would be to just replace the mats.

I'll give the vinegar a try, thanks! I used water + shampoo + carpet cleaner and it cleaned off the stain. I've been thinking about new mats as well, I'll do that after my HS graduation :]
