so my 08 has about 4000 miles on of and today was a nice day. There was little traffic on the highway and during some choice and SAFE sections I was pushing it up to 125. Well, when it came time to get off my tranny felt like I was shifting through mashed potatoes. When I got on the highway everything was fine. Ive even had it pop out of first a couple of times!
Did I fry it by going so fast? My average speed was like 85 and I only crossed 100 like 3 or 4 times. I'm not going to drive it for the rest of the weekend and I hope it just needs to chill, but any ideas as to what happened?

There is no way you fried it by going fast so take it to the dealer with peace of mind about that.
What do you mean by this?: "Ive even had it pop out of first a couple of times!"

Your in Albany. Do you go to Langan Audi East?

I put it in first, started to pull away from a light and the tranny kicked out of first and into neutral.

Take it to the dealership. Your tranny can't pop break due to speed.
Make sure you remove that short throw shifter before you take it in otherwise they'll void your warranty.

tbh, it could be the short shifter. but i agree, make sure you take that out before going to the dealer.

Kind words aren't going to solve your problem. Your questions were answered now put it back to stock and bring it to the dealer. [:)]

x2 on the short shifter, maybe the linkage was incorrectly installed and when you shifted, something in the linkage broke/bent, so shifting feels like shit...of course if u still feel it, take it to the dealer

they already know that I have it. Maybe my request for "kind words" was poorly worded. Anyone had symptoms like this with a short shifter before?

So now that I'm done panicking. I pulled the shifter boot off and the bolt that sets the length adjustment of the shifter had come loose so the whole assembly was moving with each shift. No good. It must have vibrated loose. Couple of turns with the old 6mm and I'm all good!

I'd pull it again and use some loctite on the bolt
