everything was better IMO.
steering wheel controls, self-dimming rearview mirror, lower rear headrests so you can see, cupholders are a lot better, etc.
it gets better when you add options [:)].

I have both right now while they are the same in some ways (interior) they are also pretty different.
Engine - Stock B7 obviously wins over B6, chipped B7 = K04 B6. It's a different feel the 2.0 seems like it doesn't run out of breath as fast as the 1.8. As far as turbo upgrades you'll have a much better selection right now for the 1.8T.
Clutch - B7 engages much lower to the floor and has a better feel
Brakes - B7 has larger
Exterior - Goes to personal preference, I like B7 front and B6 rear.
Interior - Mostly the same, B7 gets steering wheel controls, blue tooth, color center screen, USABLE cupholders
Which do I like better? B7. Hope this helps

I completely agree with every statement. I had 2 b6s, 2002 & 2005. Now an 08 a4

as do i agree with the above, i had an 02 and 04 b6 1.8tq tip, and now have a b7 2.0tqm.
the only real benefit to me of the b6 is how the auto feels, i dont like how the tip felt in the b7 loaner cars i had before. but everything has been improved IMO.
the chassis of the b7 feels alot stiffer to me than the b6. the b6 was quieter at idle as the b7 2.0t sounds dieselish.
fuel economy is awesome to me with the 2.0t. and i love my color dis, and the usable cup holders.
the armrest has room now, and its usable, i love the led that lights it up at nite.
adaptive bi-xenons are sweet.
i can rant about my car for hours and hours. i love my b7, as its now a stick, unlike my old b6s that were tips.
and the new brakes are leaps and bounds better
the b6 1.8t fronts are the same size as the b7 rears (288 mm) i think its the same setup as the b6 s4 in the b7's now.

We have both a B6 1.8t Frontrak and a B7 2.0t Frontrak the B6 is a stick while the other has CVT. The B7 is a loaner for one of our other Audis and the B6 is mine.
The interior is the same in my opinion overall however since i like to nitpick I will...The cupholders are better and cheaper then the B6 but unless you drink a lot while driving that shouldn't matter much. The B7 has a nicer steering wheel and DIS. The rear headrests allow for a better few. The new Symphony II+ in 2007+ models is great! the adaptive headlights are wonderful. However....I have noticed a few places they skimped with the B7 firstly, there is no warning triangle second, the map pockets are no longer lined, the fuel filler cap doesn't open with the remote (donno if this is skimping or not) either way it's still a wonderful interior and is pretty much the same B6 to B7
The driving...
The B7's steering felt sharper and a bit more eager but the B6 has weightier steering the B7's was a little too light for my taste. Ride quality was about the same maybe the B6 being a little more supple at low speeds but not too noticeable. The B7 felt quite a bit faster and has a bit more oomph. However the B7 was noisier especially at idle and lower revs, I feel that the 1.8t was much more smoother sounding when accelerating from a standstill. On the B7 i noticed that there were lots of noises that didn't sound like the engine like whirring and that kind of stuff, I think it might just be the CVT but IDK on my B6 all i hear is the engine and a little wind-noise.
Overall both the cars are great to own and drive. Both are stock by the way...I was impressed with the CVT I was expecting not to like it but it was very responsive. I would gladly get a new B7 but I'm still more then satisfied with my B6 and the B7 is pretty similar to me so there's no need to rush out and get a new one.
The B7 has a much better key btw!

Do elaborate on that! All I know is that the B7 tip has 6-speed and is supposedly better and that it can handle a much higher torque input than the B6 tip can.
