Florida doesn't require front plates but this is pretty cool. And $60 is cheap. Nice find
lol that is pretty cool and inexpensive. I guess if you dont have a lip like that then its gonna be stored under the bumper?

This looks awesome, definitely thinking of picking one up.
But then again, aren't I gonna get the no front plate ticket regardless of whether or not i can simply pull out my front plate? I'm still driving around with my front plate not visible. Am I missing something?

1. This "hide away plate" looks like an all plastic construction. When he pulled it out, did you see it flutter against the bumper when it snapped up? That thing would rattle like crazy in the wind if you drove around with it.
2. It's still not legal, unless you leave it up at all times. If you get pulled over by the cops for no plate, suddenly flick your "hide away" plate out and say, "see officer? I really do have a front plate!" he'll still give you a ticket. Front plate laws require it to be mounted visibly on the exterior of your car at all times. and if you did leave that thing out at all times, see #1 ^
3. If you actually have a car that you show (what this product and the "skidplate" are designed for) then you're going to want the cleanest look possible. The skidplate installs/uninstalls 100% in 2 minute, and this looks like it permanently screws onto your bumper and requires front bumper removal to get it off/on. Even when it is "hiding", you can still see the edge of it and people checking out your car will wonder what it is.

I actually bought one and I'm gonna install it tomorrow. If it looks gay I'll take it off but imo it worth it.

Get some pics up after the install [:)] I think it looks more clean than the skidplate idea.

I can see it hitting your bumper when you go on bumps... not held in place very well.
P.S. This is the first time seeing this product in B7 forums for me.

yeah, I just don't like that the skid plate is too off center....I'll post pics after the install....the bracket that attaches to the bumper is metal and the back plate is hard plastic....and I tested it to see if it would bang on the bumper and for it to move back and forth you have to put some force on it so you should be good

well i live in VA so i have to have the front plate. right now i have it attached with zip ties. I really hate how it looks when it is in the middle/center of grill. It looks way better with the filler and the plate lower on the bumper. However, the zip ties look really ghetto. I just kind of thought this was a good idea to maybe clean up the ghetto look of the zip ties, have the plate positioned lower, and also easily hide the plate if i drive into philly, which i do a lot, or if i feel like breaking the law and driving around with it hidden.

i hate how it looks in the first picture, i have it right now like the second picture.
So what i am looking for is a set up where the plate is low on the bumper but looks clean.

<rant> front license plate laws are so annoying. you probably wouldn't know to check a license plate til the person was driving off, and at night with headlights on it's almost impossible to see anyway. in texas i heard the lastest attempt to remove the law got struck down because 3M claimed they would lose tons of revenue because they manufacture and sell the reflective film that gets put on the plates. sigh. </rant>
ok i feel better now. the stealth plate is pretty cool.
