Well as some of you may know I am currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq for a 15 month tour. After being here for almost 8 months I am ready for leave and in 5 days I will begin my journey home for my 18 days of leave. I am very excited to come home for a number of reasons.
1- Family [:)]
2- I won't be in Iraq for those 18 days [:D]
3- I will get to sleep in. [:p]
4- I miss my eff-ing car [evilsmile]
I just thought I would share with all my fellow members. I would note that nuber 4 is number 4 because I like being married [:D]. I recently got some mods done while I was here and I really want to drive it now!!!!

No, not a Marine. I am in the Army. I am originally from California. I used to live a couple hours north of you in Riverside. Service to the country is service to the country. I thank you for your service before me. Thank you for the kind words my brother.

If that were an option I would take it. Unfortunately it's not. I would rather be in Iraq serving my country than serving time in Kansas. I also get paid in Iraq, not so much if I end up in Kansas.

Congrats on coming home man. I lived in Clarksville for 13 years and don't miss it. I actually believe you're coming home to a more dangerous place. I've done 3 tours in Iraq, each for 7 months (Air Force Security Forces) and I've done enough convoys and other missions to have my own fair share of stories. I'm still in but I'll be PCS'ing at the end of the month and I'll be in Clarksville around the beginning of June for a few days visiting fam. Stay safe man and have fun with the ride and most importantly family.

I will definitely enjoy the family, and the car. Maybe if you have some time we can meet up in June when you are in town. I like Clarksville so far. It is a slower paced city then where I used to live in California. Better for the kids. There is trouble where ever you go, there is just less in Clarksville compared to Cali.

Yeah I know where Gabe is. I used to convoy to Gabe, Normandy where I also was stationed, and Caldwell. Gabe is actually closed down and turned over to the IA.

My cousin just made it back a few months ago from his 2nd tour at Anaconda. I keep everyone stationed overseas peacemaking or fighting on the front lines in my thoughts and prayers. Whether or not I agree with the war, I support the men who fight it! ENJOY everything you miss- family, food, car, long hot showers, and hopefully a little cooler weather!

I know where Anaconda is, I spent some time there as well. I actually have a friend that posts here in this forum that is stationed there now. He should be going home for good soon. Thank you for your gratitude for all what we do, regardless of what you agree or disagree with.
I am definitely looking forward to some good food. I don't know if I am used to the weather or what, but it just isn't as hot as my last tour.

with all the controversy about the usa's involvement overseas, it's easy for the attention to go to all of the hostility and demonstrations going on here on the home front. we focus on what we think is right vs. wrong, and forget about the big picture... and the reality that there are so many people out there risking their lives for us. but when we have personal contact with people that serve our country overseas, we're hit with the reality that you all sacrifice so much for a cause you believe in, and for people you don't even know.
for that alone, you deserve our appreciation. thank you, and safe journeys!
