Hey all I need some advise! I took my car into the dealer for trouble i was having with my transmission. I figured it would have been the slave cylinder, When the car is on it wont go into gear almost like the clutch pedal is dead. The dealer is telling me the clutch is bad, but i can put the car in first when the car is off and turn the car on and power shift the car through all the gears with not problem. How is the clutch bad if i can power shift the car?

please help!!

well the clutch isn't covered so i'm sure they are saying thats what it is so they don't have to pay for it!

Dealers don’t pay for repairs Audi does and dealers make money on warranty repairs, its guaranteed business... I work for one so I can tell you. lol

Sounds like a clutch slave. This should be covered under warranty- I had one replaced on my B5 when it was new-ish.

The clutch exclusion under the warranty is meant to exclude if somebody burns up the friction material because they can't drive. If the dealer doesn't understand, get Audi involved through the website. They've been very responsive for me with one or two problems I've had with the dealer...

Thanks all for your help. I'm going to fill a complaint with Audi of America.. I'm retaining an attorney on this one.

Ha ha but they get paid less for "warranty work" vs customer pay. I know that for a fact.

well clutches are a "wear & tear" item that are not covered under warranty. mine went bad at 44K and i've driven a stick my entire driving life. i had to pay for the entire job, part and all after they saw the wear on my pressure plate. i guess whatever they say is the problem, just have them do the repair for free and hopefully it will solve your issues. if not then they should admit being wrong and do the additional clutch repair for free...

just be careful not to get yourself into a situation where you're liable for all repair costs without knowing so beforehand. dealer's are very expensive outside of the warranty!

Play dumb and take it to another dealer.
(Good comparison)
