ok - so, i know alot of people will say don't do it, but i wanna know from those who have grinded their calipers just how they did it... is it simply a case of using a manual file then painting the caliper afterwards? or is it an angle grinder job?

basically, the wheels i've got ready to pick up (& trial-fitted the other day) will go on once the caliper clearance issue is sorted... i've got 5mm spacers on order & some bolts to suit, but Bryan posted in another thread saying the wheels will need bigger spacers, which i think will push the wheels out too far.

the wheels looked like they would clear the caliper with a few mm extra, but just in case they don't (maybe once my new pads are fitted), i'd like to know about grinding them back...?

cheers! i'm determined to get these wheels on & sitting how i want them!

Use a Dremel type tool.

My shop just used a grinder. I know people will say don't do it, but my service adviser at Audi saw my rims and fucking told me to do it![up] I run spacers now, so I don't have any issues anyway, but when I first put them on, I didn't have the extra $200 for them. I've been going over 21K since then, no problems with the brakes.

when i had mine done, they used a grinder tool, its not dangerous unless you really take out a lot, but just enough is safe
