A two part question...

part one: what is the most likely source of oil leaking onto a clutch?
part two: if oil does leak onto the clutch will it ruin the clutch, and why?

thanks for the input.

My boy is having the same issue.
Part one: Probably a head gasket
Part two: YES, Other than you now have oil on your clutch, not sure why else.

it is very unlikely that the oil is coming from the headgasket.
if oil is getting to your clutch it will most likely be either your rear main seal, which is right against you clutch or it could be your slave cylinder, you will have to determine if the oil is engine oil, or brake fluid.

and second regardless ofd type of oil if it just started and your clutch is not soaked in oil you might get away by just cleaning the disk, now if its soaked in oil it will need to be replaced.
