Looks like we are finally making the move and I am wondering about neighborhoods.

We are looking at a couple of houses near Jordan Park, I-35, 290, 183 upper east side area. Anyone know if it is a good area? We also like Hyde Park, but it is bit pricier and we are wondering if it is worth it.

Any other areas we should look at? I have a wife and 2 little kids, 22 months and 6 weeks, so we need good schools and safe streets. We have already talked to the Austin International school and it looks pretty good.

I will also be bringing the B8 avant I just ordered and my B7 avant so I am happy that there seems to be a good scene there.

Anyways, TIA for the help.

im in the same boat...looking to move to Austin..but which part of Austin is good. I want good schools, safe places. I found this website that shows demographics for cities in every state and I cant believe how many registered sex offenders are in Texas, WTF!!?? In austin the population is about 600k+ with over 1100+ registered sex offenders.

Here in NJ, there is barely any, in the decent towns. Info like this, discourages my move. I heard that places like Belterra, Circle C and Highpoint are good areas, is this true? Im looking to spend around 250-300k for a home.

Any feedback is appreciated.

hyde park is the much better choice, nicer people and better return on investment. My ex lives there with my money!!!

Having moved to Austin 3 years ago I can recommend being west of Mopac (loop 1)
RiverPlace and Steiner Ranch get my top votes but there are many others. Where you will be working is key also!!!!!
the FM2222/FM620 area out near Lake Travis is really nice it is HILL COUNTRY and there are a lot of nice folks both young and old!!!!!!!!!!
If any of you play Basketball I can help you out too!!!

We have a nice little forum www.texasaudigroup.com and we welcome all new AUDI folk to AUSTIN

We have any and all Audi you could dream of in our group...

Thanks for the info, guys. We have found a realtor we like, so we'll see how far we get. Allendale is now a strong prospect, as well.

Luckily, I will still be working for STaSIS so I will be setting up an office out of the house. I can't wait to stop commuting.

Thanks for the link to the Texas Audi Group. I will be checking it often.

I used to live in Cedar Park three years ago. Good value for your money in North Austin too. Where you work and the drive is important for many. Steiner Ranch is very nice. You will love Austin... Great music, food and people... I am there on business each month and it still feels like home.

The local dealer "Roger Beasley" is great, and there are several other capable Audi wrenches in the area such as North West Imports, Soulspeed and others...
