so i am in the market for a new S5. my lease on my car is going to be up at the end of summer this year and i am in love with the S5. my girlfriend that i live with now has recently gotten a beater car that has good winter tires etc and i dont really need another car during winter. so essentially the car is going to be more like a weekend/summer car with very low mileage...
question is, should i lease or purchase the car? if i lease the car, i am basically paying for the depriciation that i would incur over the years after traveling a certain amount of mileage in the car during that time. if i purchase, the car, perhaps when i sell the car myself in 4 or 5 years time, i can get a better price for it since it has low miles?
what do you guys think ? i know i have the finances to pay the downpayment and finance the car but is it worth while to do so when a lease would cost so much less and be a lot less hassle?

If you only need a summer/weekender, i'd recommend the new M3. It'll be more fun for summer driving than the S5. Get the S5 if you need all-round year fun :)

You can always buy it at the end of the lease and keep it for a few more years.
Do the math and see how it works out though. I don't think the leases are all the great right now on the S5's since they don't need to be. Supply and demand is on Audi's side at the moment and there is no need to offer a great money factor on the lease.

Lease rates for S5 will not be any good. If you want to lease, you might want to consider 335i.

Regualr A5 lease prices are high around 900 with nothing down, I would think S5 to be around 1200.

personal preference there my friend. i think the m3 is ass-ugly. goes like stink, but ass ugly. oh yeah, at least 10k more than an s5.

depends on a lot of factors....money factor, msrp, etc.
Even if you keep the car long term, doesn't really matter if you lease or not. The payment may be high, but that just means you'll probably have positive equity in the car at turn-in, which obviously you would just keep instead. Since Audi isn't sure (or their accountants) that actual depreciation...they will always error on the side of them...meaning your payment will be high to account for possible quicker depreciation.
If you feel as if the S5 will hold it's value though, you're probably going to be in good shape.

if you are looking for lease, go for M3 instead of S5. Although the msrp of M3 is higher, but it has higher residual and low MF, which lower the monthly payment of M3 than S5. You may want to go to some bmw forums to check out what other people are paying for that car.
