sorry if this sounds dumb but i'm very new to Audi, what would a test pipe do for my car, will i gain any power, and are there any cons to putting in a test pipe?

thank you

It will free up quite some power. It eliminates the restricting catalytic converter which is basically filled with honeycomb shaped metal (google catalytic converter). This is a really cheap mod too.
Negs: you'll pollute the world, possibly fail emissions, get a CEL (but that can be fixed with antifoulers)

If you are going to replace the stock cat then install a high flow cat instead. You'll get nearly the same gains as a test pipe but without any of the drawbacks.
