Well last night as I was dropping off my girlfriends phone at her friends house and one of my friends backed into my parked car. He had a lifted 80's Ford Bronco with a spare tire on the back door, thats what killed my hood. So far the damage is the hood, grille, hood latch, both headlight washers and caps, drivers side headlight (all the mounts snapped), and the bumper needs respray. Its all good tho. New goodies will include C/F hood with painted sides, and maybe e-codes!

what kind of gains have you seen?

Increased headlight wobble, less paint for weight reduction, bent grill fins for maximum airflow and overall increased uglyness.

Ok, the insurance is not gonna cover this (requested from the kids mother) she is paying upfront... I hope she knows her son hit an Audi... I know these parts new from the stealership are gonna cost a fortune. Can anyone here give me a simple estimate on the cost of repair. The parts are
Hood
Hood Latch system
Grill
(2) Headlight Washer Nozzles with caps
Drivers side HID Headlight housing
Bumper and hood painted

damn, so much. If you can't get them at net price, let me know.
Randy in the parts section normally hooks it up.

Yeah I know. I'm gonna get all the prices at Boardwalk Audi tomorrow. I think it will be around 3-4K... I think I can get all the mods I want done for $1500.. I'm going with a VIS C/F hood, Depo E-Codes, VVME 4300k HID kit, RS4 grill, 2 washers with caps and the hoodlatch system at the junkyard. All that and the bumper and hood resprayed for $1500 sounds like enough... You think?

Bumper and hood painted

Hood (stock) 500
Hood (carbon) 550-1200 shipped (ebay Vis-Vorsteiner)
Hood latch - 35-40
Grill (RS4) - 85-100 shipped
Washer caps - no idea but cheap at the dealership or in the classifieds
DS S4 headlight housing - 100-150 in the classifieds
prep and paint - 800-1200 depending on who does it and the quality of the job. I had mine done as well as both fenders for 1200 with excellent quality.

It would also be a good time to clearbra the hood and bumper but you have to wait 30-60 days after painting and they are usually a little messed up by then.

See I can get all the items listed above for cheeper except the RS4 grill but thats another story. What I really need is Audi OEM prices, I guess I'm gonna give the dealership a call tomorrow and get the prices. What I may do is cut the dealerships price in half and tell the guy thats how much I will need. I think I will be safe with $1500 to $2000 or so.

The hood is 462 and the latch is 35. I had this all quoted out but don't have the exact numbers in front of me. I did the S4 bumper, S4 headlights, Vorsteiner hood, and a fender on mine after an accident.

Why would you cut the prices in half? Trying to make sure you have to go out of pocket on this one?

Ok, I called the dealership and its $1416.85 without labor/paint. Plus paint it will still be over $2000. I think I'm gonna ask the lady for $1500 and call it a day...

You seem like a nice guy, and its tough when something like this happens between friends, and im sure you dont want to put a finincial burdun on him/his family. Remember though, you dont want to end up with mismatched paint, parts that down line up exactly, or putting yourself in the hole, cause you tried to save your friend a buck etc, etc.... if she wants to save herself a buck or two by not going through insurance, than give yourself an extra 500 or so OVER what you think its gonna be, its not like shes gonna have the numbers verified by her insurance appraser...

biketsai

I bet the price its gonna cost her as his insurance goes up might be less?

Doesn't ECS Tuning sell a headlight tab repair kit? That could save you some money if that all that's wrong with the light.

If it's a friend and you have the money I would get all the work done first and then give here an exact bill of the full repairs minus the difference of any upgrades. That way everything is fair for both parties and you don't get stuck coming up short or her paying extra.

But keep in mind that if you had of gone through the insurance you would be entitled to a rental car for however many days your car is down, so that could be factored into the price, but that is up to you.

I believe were settling it for $1700. I picked up 1 headlight washer with cap, and a hood latch for $50. I'm picking up a C/F hood withen the next couple of days for $400. That leaves me with $1250 for a grill, set of Depo E-codes, VVME HID kit, 1 more washer with cap and paint for the grill and the hood. I'm coming out on top with a little extra cash :D
