hey guys,

I have a black B6 A4 (2002) and it has two white pinstripes going along the sides. Now, I've always hated these things since it takes away from the very clean and sleek look I want to go for with my ride. My car is at the body shop, and I was going to have them do it, but they said that it would still be visible even when taken off, and rebuffing wont make them completely gone.

Is this just BS, or is there some truth to this? I don't want to go through painting any of the panels, but just want to remove the stripes, and maybe some buffing to clear it up. I have some scratches near the door too that I think buffing could fix up for the most part.

I'll take pictures when I get the car back, but any suggestions? Could a good detailer remove the stripes and not leave a mark?

How about black stripes on a black car?

it depends on how faded the paint is. AND...if they are painted on, its going to be a lot more work. My buddy's Lexus at work has 2 pinstripes on his suv and they are painted on....gay. Take them off, and use some optimum compound.

I took the pinstripes off of my car. [97 Pearl White A4] Mine were stickers/decals. I heated them up with a heatgun, used Goo-gone to peel them off. I lightly compounded the area, polished the car, and waxed it. 6 months later and you can't see where they were.
