Everyone lately has been upgrading their turbo. Whether upgrading to a K04 or BT or even BAT, everyone has been doing it. Well I upgrading too and Im just waiting to get one last package that is currently under deposit and will be bought within 2-3 days. Anyways my question is this:

Can I run a KO4-015 with the GIAC J-31 file, atp exhaust manifiold, injectors, mbc, fpr, carbonio, and forge dv without a fmic? I will be strapped for cash after I buy my last parts and wont be able to buy a fmic until fall probably. Some say just keep the boost low and I should be fine. What psi should I keep it at until I get the fmic?

Any help would be appreciated.

no need for the mbc unless your n75 valve is messed up and even then i would replace it.
You can run without a fmic but you will get timing pull and heatsoeak quicker. Might as wait until next spring instead of installing a fmic in the FALL... But that's just my opinion.

Won't I have though occasional spikes in boost with the N75 valve?

only some users have experienced it.
And those who experienced it used "boost machine" to control it.

^ I like the ebc a little better then the boost machine because of the high and low setting. Also you can change the settings from inside the car.

IMO, i dont think you need to get an new exhaust manifold, just spend that money and build a custom FMIC

Oh, I know but I already bought it because Im gonna try to squeeze everything out of that KO4. Im gonna buy eventually all the supporting mods.

I'd be scared to boost if i didnt have a FMIC.

I wouldn't do it on a j31 car.

if you keep it at or @ 18~ psi then you should be fine, as some ko3 chiped cars push over that, you will just get heat soak. i see that your in vermont so it should be cold enough until you have the funds.

yup, dats exactly why i sd if he doesn't install it this summer wait until next spring.

Sounds good because I will most likely be installing my kit within 3-4weeks. I just have to make sure I have everything down to the smallest bolt for this install. Oh and it needs to warm up too because we still have a s**t load of snow here.

was getting my wheel bearing replaced, spent most of the day sittin in pubs on church street....

then i hit 150 on 89 north on my way home [:D]

Lewis, is alright. Just like any other stealership they tend to be pricey.

150 on 89...damn.

Is there anything else I need to know before installing the k04? I read a diy on audiworld and it said the only PITA is one of the turbo bolts. Anything else I need to know?
