upholstery write up

Okay, so I've searched AZ and google and I can't find a decent "how-to" on reupholstery. I understand the basics.
1. Remove the piece that will be reupholstered
2. Remove the previous material
3. Clean the part
4. Apply adhesive to the part
5. "Stretch" new fabric over the part
6. Heat, pull, roll, poke, jab, yank until fabric is free of wrinkles and creases
7. Pray to the almighty that it stays that way

I was looking for something a little more in depth without shelling out $90+ for a video or $25 for a book. Perhaps something with pictures. I just want to redo a set of door cards so I can either sell them or wait until I get a B5 again.

I have only done a few seats in my buddies interior shop. Main thing is heating it up and fitting it. If your not good with sewing with a machine, its going to be a wee bit hard too.

I am just looking to redo the leather on the door cards. I got some jet black ultrasuede to replace the ruined leather. Should I leave the leather in place, or try and take it off?

Damn man, somebody should be able to speak up on this. I know many have redone the door cards. I'm lucky that mine are ok, but in another year or so I'll have to redo too. Did you check the S4 forums?

search "door cards" here in the B5 A4 section. i know there have been threads in the past about this, as I am also looking at doing it soon, look for a thread by "A4rob" he has a write up in his I think
