Hi all.
as the title suggests, i'm in the market for a White S3.
just wanted to know what price i should be looking at paying for one with no options drive away?

i've spoken to one dealer and they offered a white one with s/roof and flat bottom wheel for 70k driveaway.
is that a good deal?
i'm located in Melbourne.[:)]

Cheers guys.

Did a quick search for you on Drive.com.au. They range from 65000 to 79000. You should be able to pick up a basic one for less than 70 000. Just offer them 65000 and see what they say.

Good luck!

what was wrong with your chip?

Thanks for that guys.
Firstly, i wasn't the only ONE with the problem. many MKV GTI owners with the APR chip had this problem.
the main problem was the fuel cuts. for example, when in S mode (DSG) it would shift into 3rd gear but once it hit 6500 rpms it wouldn't shift into 4th and it would just lose power than come back on only to lose power again.
APR blamed everything under the sun except the chip.
i have now since gone to GIAC, and haven't had a problem since.

Yeah, I noticed a few of the MK5 guys are unhappy with APR! I have apr KO4 and get fuel cuts in 3 & 4th around 4000RPM. I never noticed it because I rarely rev that high in those gears but lately I have been doing more high speed driving especially uphill I get major fuel cut.

another problem could be your fuel pumps. APR blamed these to. i'm still running my stock fuel pump with the GIAC and still no problems.

could be dodgey software aswell.

Ring Mathew @ NATIONAL CAR SEARCH AUSTRALIA (http://www.carsearch.com.au/)

He can either find you a car or if you have a car in mind let him know which dealer / car and let him do the negotiating.

i think you will get an S3 for a lot less than 70k at the moment, there is a new S3 that has been released in Europe and is on the way to Australia very soon. Given the state of the car market at the moment the dealers will be wanting to clear as much stock as they can. I would wait until Jan when buying an 08 plated car will be even cheaper - then ring dealer after dealer offering a very very low price and wait until you get onto a dealer who really wants to move stock - good luck! (dont forget that current stock was purchased by the dealers when the aussie dollar was very strong so there are some big margins to be hacked into by the consumer at the moment)
