View Full Version : So I'm keeping the A4. Step 2 Gt2871r.

I had a change of heart.

I was fairly set on a Laser Red S4, but the way I figure, I'm in college, my car is fully paid off, and I put a ton of money into my car. Not only that, insurance is going to cost me way more on an S4 (Considering I am 20.) and I would have to deal with similar Bs I had to deal with in my A4.

I want to go Full Gt2871r. Where and how much? Exhaust mani?

I am more than likely going to go with custom software via SSP Tuning. I am going to get 034 tranny mounts and a differential mount, and well as a front mount (maybe ER). I also want to full upgrade the brakes, and maybe do rods on the motor, my budget is 6k. Going to do other minor goodies here and there as well. (Hid's, Exhaust Cutout, etc.)

Go T3 GT3071r and just run lower boost. Because in a year you will be wanting to upgrade again anyways.

That is because fred hasn't fully released it to the public.

MSRP will be $3995 for the hardware kit, not nearly that thru me.

B6 owner that is running that kit with revo tuning (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183369)

He claims to be hitting 20psi by 3600 rpms, that is post #77 on that thread.

I turned up the boost today to 20psi and turned my timing to 5 on the SPS3. I'm hitting 20 psi at 3600 rpms.

Right now I'm trying to work out pricing and what not, the ER kit is rather pricey, I know its quality but, that be blowing most of my money right there. Got to remember I need money for brakes as well. (S4 rear calipers with 300mm rears and 312mm fronts with Boxter calipers should be sufficient) (I also want to replace ICM and all 4 coil packs, I have a sneaking suspicious icm is going bad from random misfires.)

What I am wondering about is the Scat rods. 034 sells them in 21mm wrist pins and 20mm wrist pins, difference? Why is the 20mm 25 dollars more?

I looked at a replacement clutch for my spec stage 2 as well. South Bend stage 4 is pretty nicely priced. (Kinda regret not going with at least stage 3 when I did the clutch but w/e. )

21mm wrist pins are for the tall deck VW motors that used a 144mm rod. The 1.8t's came with a 19 or 20. Wow I didn't know the price went on their site for the 20mm Scats, they used to be $350 not long ago.

If you are pricing out things new, whether you buy a lot or buy a little, mike will definantly give you the best price he can. I can vouch for that!

What is the expected release date for that setup?

Well at this point he just has to find time to build some manifolds, said he should have time later this month to do that. Right now he is busy trying to finish some S4 SMIC kits and then build/jig up a copy of my FMIC setup for another A4 owner.

if he does all the work himself, and goes through a good vendor like Mike, he should be able to easy..

and really, if he can't, brakes are not a necessity unless he tracks the car. so if this is just for street use, he could skip on that for now

Doing everything at SSP, been with them for over a year, so little or no cost to install stuff, ill be doing a lot of it myself regardless.

I got a pair of S4 rear's laying around somewhere, all I have to worry about is the Boxter fronts and the brackets front and rear. (That or theres also a set of S4 uprights laying around along with front brakes, id just need 2.8 axles to make them work).
