So I really want to do an S4 front bumper, but I love the durability of the stock black valences.

I was thinking of keeping my rear and sides stock, and having an S4 bumper painted up to look like this RS2 bumper pictured here.

I'd have the bumper painted, and then use the textured paint to match the lines of the stock sides.

The Volvo-R cars have a similar set-up, and I think it looks cool, and serves a purpose... and it's different.

Maybe I'm nuts.

What do you think? Anyone want to photoshop one?

the textured paint isn't too durable, but the upside is its easy to reapply after it gets scraped

you'll have less noticable paint imperfections doing this, but it won't stop bumper damage from hitting or scraping stuff

Agreed.

I thought it might just look cool.

to put an OEM RS4 bumper you would also have to use OEM RS4 front fenders, because they are flared and will not match up with your A4 fenders, you would have to go aftermarket, like Kerscher or Reiger front........

If you are going to do it and want it to be durable then use spray on bedliner. Outback owners have been doing it for years. I haven't found any reason to do it on any Audi since the suspension is too fragile to take the car anywhere where it could get hurt. That is what the outback is for.

You can put a RS4 bumper on without replacing front fenders but the bumper must be reshaped professionally due to it is wider than the stock a4 bumper.

Slightly true...

But, a lot of guys here in the UK have fitted OEM RS4 front bumpers to A4 / S4 with stock fenders. It's pretty easy to use a heat gun to soften the bumper sides, and mould to suit the OEM narrow shoulders.

Works a treat.

so after you heat gun it, did you have to trim it or were you just generalizing and not speaking from experience?

I haven't had to do it, no. But, I know a lot of my clients have had it done, and no trimming is required.

I had the reverse done on mine - a Euro S4 rear bumper, heated, and widened to suit my OEM RS4 widebody.

so since its wider ( the rs4 front ) if bent into a straighter line to follow an a4's body you would have a bit of over hang from the bumper onto the fender or wings as some call them, and correct me if im wrong but towards the top edge of the bumper youd have to cut and not fold or shape it back into the wheel liner because theres no room to simply fold it back right?

I had a nice chat with docurley and this is what he had to say about the matter, but this is only a portion of what he had to say. Lots of good ideas this guy has.

Well you will have to make brackets for the sides as the RS4 bumper bolts on to an inner lip of the RS4 wing and as the A4 and S4 don’t have these you will have to work something out.

The main problem is the RS4 bumper is designed to fit wide wings and so you will have to heat the bumper to try and fit your arches. Now you will have to cut the upper part of the bumper as it deform because there is too much plastic there and then you will need to plastic weld it back up. You will also need the RS4 front bumper shocks or use washers to space the bumper out to fit correctly.

You may want a body shop to do this as it's quite a big job but once done and with S4 sides it could look like this.

Lol, I'd get a bodyshop to do that.

I'm from a mechanical and electrical background, so I generally leave bodywork to those qualified to do fabrication.
