I'm thinking about getting a colored cf hood, just like the trim i have on order from winston's group buy. Here are some pics of the match. obviously the refelction makes it hard to tell if the match is good, but look at the areas where you cant see the sun's reflection. Its a pretty damn good match, and im thinking about pulling the plug on this, depending on the price. What do you guys think?

This is me being a A4 owner not just a salesman, because I think it will look very good on your car.

Do it. [:)]

You might want to take a picture of that sample piece right on the edge of the hood so it meets up with the fender. This will give you a good idea of how it might end up looking once the hood is on there. Also the sample doesn't look like it is fully coated or polished, once its completely done it should much closer to the color of the paint.

yeah, just depends on price. Im also going to need to find a source for the fabric. the fabirc that was used for the sample that you see above was found on ebay.

I need to find the dealer, since i know the match is what im looking for. If i bought it from another source, it could be a waste since the color might not be the same.

so are you looking to have this custom done for you? if so, be ready to spend some big bucks i'd say.

ive been looking on the net and cant even find anything. maybe the place im getting my trim made will have enough in stock to where i could buy it.

im not sure if fiber images holds this type of fabric. i just know i havent had any luck finding it. im sure they could find it a lot easier.

mikes still trying to get it priced out for me, and we still are trying to figure out the fabric issue. Im waiting to hear back from the place i got the sample from.

depending on the cost i would do it, just as long as its reasonable.

well, kind of bad news. I guess the weave is so tight with this fabric, that when its used with a mold it will hold more air than usual. So this means there will most likely be more air bubbles. I could still get this made, but im not so sure if it would be worth it anymore if there will be a lot of air bubbles. its just hard to decide because i cant gauge how the overall product will look, and its a big gamble on my part. Something in the back of my mind still says do it....but im not sure.

Well just let me know.

Like I said in the PM, there are a few other choices. Going with a silver weave and painting the hood with a red kandy so that it will match the rest of your car or you could go with a standard red/black kevlar/cf weave.

BTW I have pics from Fiber Images of the standard Red/black weave, the pics are of it overlayed on a red bumper. Email me and I can send you some of the pics.

the silver weave sounds good also. just worried about how much it would cost to get painted.

Well I called up a VW friend(dave) that painted my bumper/fenders. He is going to paint my new blue kevlar hood for me and I talked to him about doing the kandy on a silver hood for you. If you are interested I can ask him how much it would cost to do, he even asked me to get a sample of the silver that he could spray with a red kandy. Believe me this guy knows what he is doing with the kandy, his cars tend to be top winners in most of the Socal vw/audi events. He owns the kandy blue VW cab with all white leather inside and VR6, he also owns a red/black GTI with a gold leaf stripe that runs a VR6 turbo. Dave and his wife have also been featured on both Redline and Street Tuner Magazine.
