they are interchangeable, but it would look retarded. front spring rates for the s4 are higher cause of the larger engine, so the front would look worse than your stock suspension.

The A4 has the 30 valve V6, I imagine the difference would be the weight of the 2 turbos ,plumbing and I'C's, that wouldnt throw it off all that much. Curb weight of the A4 is 3384 lbs and the S4 is 3593 .....209 lbs differ, that cant all be up front but threw the entire car...

Don't do it, there is a difference. Experienced first hand:

Just get uprated springs / dampers specific to your model.

Only 209lbs you say? Believe me, it makes one hell of a difference. Bear in mind, the kerb weights quoted in the instruction manuals are nominal, and don't oftern mean much.

For $150 for the S4 susp. its prolly better than mine on the 2.8 A4..

That 1.8t ridin high in the front in the pic is lighter up front than the 2.7tt and the 2.8....

Lol, seems your mind's already made up.

Out of interest, why did you enquire then, I mean, seek opinions?

Well if you do it swap out the springs as this is what set the hight and your 2.8 springs will slot straight in but if you can swap out the spring for uprated units to make it worth doing.

^^ya, wouldn't it be worth doing if you throw some lowering springs on? thats what I was planning on doing, I thought the struts are solid with some H&R springs?

There is more at work that the weight difference. Go look at a stock S4 and take note of the wheel gaps. The S4 has a larger gap up front than an A4 1.8t on sport suspension. That gap gets even larger with the weight difference.

Use the struts with a set of sport springs and you'll be fine. Race springs will also work but will cook the dampers over a shorter period of time.

I think the S4 shock will hold up fine with Race springs as the S4 shocks will better rated then say 2.8 sport shock I would have thought.

i have vogland(sp?) springs on s4 struts, the rides not great but for 200 bucks it was the quick fix i needed at the time. What really need to do is get ride of my non-sport sway bars with a set of h&R's. If your only looking for better performance, i would skip the suspension, or go the route i did and get some swaybars. I took a ride in ONEMOREMILES car with stock sport suspension and upgraded sways and it could outhandle my car when i had coilovers anyday.

The bars make a staggering difference. They allow you to keep the softer springs which are relatively comfortable on the street but still take corners without using your side mirrors as training wheels.

I've got a set of S4 springs that have been in a box in the garage for years. 20 bucks plus shipping if anyone wants to prove how ridiculous they look installed.

The S4 struts felt pretty much the same as A4 sport struts. They are rumored to have slightly better damping but it was too close for me to feel.

No, my mind is not yet made up...I will most likely bag this idea and seek another route. OR just leave it the way it is cause the wife drives that car now anyway....

S4 Struts and H&R race springs. Rides like shit, but not shabby for $200
