If your car is a 2.8 than it might lower it..i think...if it is a 1.8t than it will make your car even higher. The S4 is heavier than the 1.8t so it wont compress as much...

The S4 springs will physically fit your A4 quattro, but there's a possibility your car MAY ride higher than a stock S4, or your car with its original springs.

Yes, the S4 springs are indeed stiffer, your car's lighter too, so it may not compress the S4 springs as much as it should.

As a consequence, your car may be very bouncy over uneven surfaces, unless you carry a lot of ballast around. Problem is, more ballast in the rear will make things worse, as your front end will sit higher with your smaller engine.

It will be higher. The stock S4 is higher than a stock A4 1.8t with sport suspension. So 1.8t with S4 springs is super high.

You can use the S4's red struts though. I've used them with 1.8t sport springs as winter suspension and it was very nice. I've also run it on the track with H-Sport ARBs to keep the roll in control.

S4 'red' sruts & H&R race springs-rides/feels like shit, but good for $200.

thanks for all the insight guys. my car is a 2.8 quattro. so i don't think it will sit higher than an s4 by any means, if anything, i would say equal.

any more insight as for the whole s4 shock and spring setup in my a4?

It will be higher than an S4 since the S4 is still heavier up front. They have turbos, intercoolers, and all the associated plumbing.

See the big wheel gap on the S4? Yours will be higher than that. I'm guessing close to an inch higher.

I don't know. The back of the S4 Avant is much lower than the front. Maybe a 1-2 finger gap in the rear and 3-4 up front.

For general information, the S4 and A4 B5 quattro suspensions are interchangeable. The only difference in the suspension is the possible slight increase in spring rate (the spring however is the same just with a higher rate). But according to Rich at Audi, a knowledge technician, they have the same suspension structure and the suspensions ARE interchangeable! The Avant has a much higher spring rate due to an increase in load capacity. But they too have the same structure and are interchangeable! The 1.8/2.8/2.7, etc., are all interchangeable with the B5 quattros...

The only 'real' difference seems to be in rear suspension spring rates.

The struts are the same but the springs are not. The S4 springs are longer.

Park a stock sport A4 next to a stock S4 and you'll see that the S4's front is higher. Where do you think that difference comes from? The spring perch is in the same place and the car is heavier. If the springs were the same the S4 would be lower but it isn't. It is at least a half inch higher than my 1.8t on sport suspension.

I agree! That is why I mentioned spring 'rate' in the various models. And even some have a slight difference in the front with the same perch. Dampers are not much of an issue but there will be the obvious change in height as onemoremile mentioned. Keep in mind this is what Audi technicians are conveying.
