I cant tell if its retro fitted plastic mesh with a DIY chrome surround or a part you can buy off the shelf, a few of you guys seem to have them but in UK I have never seen one, this is by far the best pic I could find I hope the guy doesnt mind me using it its an awesome looking car.
Its the part that replaces the centre plastic slatted piece for a more up to date B6 style plastic mesh in the bumper with chrome surround. If anyone knows where to get them I would love to know as it looks great with an S4 grill

I wouldn't chrome the sides. But, matching plastic RS4-style mesh for the corners will look great.

would look alot better if you had the RS4 front bumper, my $.02. I was thinking the same thing, but with the RS4 bumpers.
painting the trim ring around your stock grille wouldn't look bad either. The fake aluminum look won't match the Chrome ring around the area a FMIC should go

you're welcome [:D] I just dont see why youd seriously have to take something that easy to a shop to have done... that is all.

....maybe lay off the bong for a bit and take 20 minutes, go outside, and do this simple mod yourself... what a concept! Or then again, you could take it to a shop, have it sit there for an hour or two, and pay them for their time......

Bong, a good source of RS4-style plastic mesh, is the Audi TT bumper lower grilles.

I used to buy a lot, when I had my RS3-engined Type 85 Coupe quattro.

From memory, the large centre grille was about £11 + VAT so really cheap. Worth a try. As for the aluminium / chrome trim, I'm sure you can find something to fit. maybe the lower grille off a B6 A4, with the slats replaced by the TT mesh?

You two are on here more than AS!

TBH I am considering an S4 front bumper after I saw an Hibuscus red S4 on VWVortex it looked great, trying to get a list of parts together but I am even more confused than before, I have a thread on AS if you two fellas fancy helping out [hail]

you're on a car forum so theres bound to be more than one so here goes......If you have the mental capacity to acquire the title of "computer geek," I would assume you would be at least open minded to learning about your car and maybe even being able to change your own oil one day! You're here for a reason obviously and why not make the most of your resources? If you need a body shop to put some trim on your grill for you.....I don't think you should be in a B5 because they're low selling value is only worth it if you can work on some stuff yourself, otherwise you're car will be in the shop more than on the streets. He rolled his eyes because of how stupid your comment sounded.

So sack the fuck up and come to your senses. most of the people here are going to help you save a lot of money when your shit breaks.

Here let me kind of translate. It'd be the same as me hiring somebody to type up the HTML so I can switch up my myspace a little.....dumb.

[:D] Well translated my friend.

But in all seriousness... this mod will take less than 30 minutes of your time. So even if you sucked at building things, you could have one looking like this in no longer than 2 hours of time...

You can buy the chrome stuff at autozone / advance / orielly / etc for like $5. It's made for wheel-well trim or some crap.
