Hey guys i am just about to install my GT2871r and i havent bought a TIP yet..Now i have seen a few shots of peoples cars running a POD filter straight off the turbo?? [confused]

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me? For example where does the N75 hook up to also the ICM and MAF??

Any help would be great guys! [wrench]

what year is your car?

running a filter off your turbo eliminates your maf. you can always insall a nipple on the coupler on the filter for the n75. Most people with modded cars use an EBC anyways.

AHhh that may help! Its a 98 AEB...How well does it run MAFless though...Would this not cause ECU issues?? So i could get away with running MBC instead of N75...
What happens with the rest of the hosing coming off the TIP?? Sorry so many Q's

since it doesn't have a map sensor I don't think it would run very well without a MAF unless it is tuned for it. My car has a MAP sensor and unitronics told me it would be okay to run the car without the MAF sensor

Ok thanks for the info [:)]...Interested if anyone has got any suggestions or is running a setup instead of a TIP?

On AEB engines have to run a MAF sensor, it's the only sensor that the ECU has to measure airflow with. Later cars had MAF and MAP sensors, so they can run without the MAF.

You could maybe do a blow through MAF setup. this is where the MAF is located between the thottlebody and the turbo. I think CTapp did this once. Call him up and see what he says.

Got a few ideas running round my head at the moment...is there any real drama with using stainless steel??

no, go ahead with the stainless. I used a 90* elbow down to a maf and filter on my 3071r set up.

Hmm yea thinking this would be the way to go...then i could run the pipe up to the MAF then onto a POD?
