I want to know if A4 B6 sidemarkers will fit B5 00-01 fenders? I was looking on ebay for some smoked sidemarkers and only found ones for a B6. Does anyone know how similar they are and if they can be made to fit?

Also if anyone knows of a good source for smoked sidemarkers, that would help as well. I found both smooth and rough sidemarkers but have not decided which ones would look better on CF fenders. Here are a few pictures for reference.

SMOOTH:

LOL i thought this was gonna be a wheel thread and I was prepared to call you a noob.

HHmmm i sure its doable. I've seen them side by side and the shape is not close. I think the B6 ones are longer. I think the easiest solution is to tint the stock ones yourself. Hobby stores sell tint in a can for tinting windows on model cars. Spray a few light coats and then clear them. If it appears like its not smooth, spray on a few more layers of clear and thing sand them smooth with 2000 grit and buff them out.

The reason I cannot tint the stock ones is because I don't have stock ones. When I bought the car it had pre-facelift fenders on it and now I am putting CF fenders from Fiber Images and need the longer sidemarkers as opposed to the square ones that were on the car.

I do not know the difference between the 00-01 B5 sidemarkers and the 02 B6 sidemarkers. I can make them fit if they are not to far off as the sidemarker holes need to be cut out of the CF fenders anyways.

Ohhh yeah i completely forgot about your square sidemarkers. It doesn't look like ECS has any of the smoked ones in stock ready to ship. The smooth ones says special order.

I was just looking at those but as you can see, they look different from the pictures of the other ones I posted. I like the first two I posted better, but if I have to use these I guess it will be ok.

The smooth ones are definantly a lot cleaner. You can always buy both and if the b6 doesn't work you can sell them. Not a big deal.

if the cv fenders have no holes for them then why not just leave it that way

B6 sidemarkers will fit (not perfectly, i think the recessed part is not as long on B5) but you need to grind out (dremel) the hole to make it fit. You should try to take a look of the hole on an actual B6 so you know what size/shape to cut.

The only difference I see is how they mount in the back which I could make fit by how I cut the hole. The one thing I can't see is if the connection for the light itself is different.

I think the light bulbs are a slip fit. They just slide in and stay there. As for attachment, I'd trim off the plastic catches leaving just the light cylinder. Then drill that size hole in the fender and use some RTV to hold the light in place.

The other option is to drill the cylinder hole in the fender and then dremel out the keyway for the plastic catch. You've got to be very careful to keep the edges smooth with carbon. Any scratches or jaggies are places that will be prone to cracking. Most carbon is like glass in that it is very strong but will always fail along a score line. Wear goggle and a mask when trimming as that stuff is nasty. Wash yourself with COLD water after trimming. That will keep your pores closed which prevents the fiberglass itch.

Well I decided to go with the B6 rough lenses as it has a carbon look to it with the little squares. Since I have to cut out the opening anyways I will make these lights fit.

Fred does the CF fenders come with the openings already or do we have to trim the opening which will just be marked on the back of the fender?

Well if you dont know I guess I will find out when I pick them up from Fiber Images on tuesday.

I sure hope your bumper can be ready on tuesday, that way I can get that after making a stop at Eurocode and before going to Purems.

Damn when did I start driving a parts truck.[;)]

We have to trim them, so I can just about make any side marker fit but since the B5 and B6 are pretty close it shouldn't be that hard.

Thats cool. I guess on my car I can just cut the back of my light and just glue it into place. [;)]

can you make that picture blue kelvar and fill in that inlet vent on the hood so I can see what the front of my car will look like soon.[:D]

Too bad you didn't have more time you could have asked Fiber Images to CF overlay your new bumper.

It just depends on when it's ready. If it's not ready before you leave, I just might do that ....... [:D]
