The drivers side seat belt latch on my A4 broke today. Part of the red button snapped off and I believe fell down in the mechanism; now the belt won't latch and the seatbelt is basically useless.

I don't suppose this is a device covered by some kind of lifetime warranty. The only reason I ask is because another car of mine had lifetime seatbelt warranties due to some kind of defect.

Otherwise any idea how to take the latch apart?

same thing happened to me, take the seat out is the best bet and then take the latch off. happened in my 97 12v and thats one of the many reasons why i dont drive it lol

replace it right away. seat belt parts are cheap - they are not somethign to mess around with

I managed to dig the broken button out of the latch with a pair of tweezers. Works fine now just a busted red button.
