Hey, I'm from Colorado but since I'm going to UBC I need to find a new dealer. There's Audi of Richmond, Open Road Audi (border between Van and Burnaby) and one on the North Shore. There are also a few independent places google found for me and a vw dealership that come up under google for audi service (??)

Which of these places would you recommend for or against? I need a 20,000 km service and my headlight aim adjusters are broken so I have about 4 meters of useful light in front of me unless I use my brights!

Cheers, Billy

I would suggest: North Shore > Richmond (only ask for Norman) > Open Road (new dealership in town)

Heard some good thing about North Shore but Richmond Audi is closer to me, Open Road is new in town and not much feedback...

If you go to Richmond Audi, ask for Norman, he's the best.

Go to Richmond or North Shore. I have always gotten better service at Richmond. Open Road is new and small.

If you go to Richmond ask for Norman (service rep) and Doug (technician).

I just ordered a car from Richmond Audi. I won't have it till April so I can't tell you there service is. After talking to a few people that bought and serviced cars through them though it sounds like a bery good dealership.

Open Road is going throguh a ton of renovations right now so I'm not sure how the dealership is coping with all that. It seemed a little disorganized when I was in there.

thanks for all the feedback

I'm trying to book an appointment at Richmond but they say that they're booked for two weeks! This wouldn't be a big deal if it were an oil change or X km service but my headlights point at the ground!

The aim adjusters don't work (yellow dashboard light and all) and my car is extremely unsafe at night unless I have streetlights or can use my brights...

Do any of these dealerships routinely give loaners?

Richmond is extremely busy. Did you try any of the other dealers? Audi of Richmond gives out loaners from time to time, however, most of the time, they will get you to rent a car from Enterprise for a nominal fee. Last time I got a Dodge Ram pickup....lol!

Avoid Openroad Audi like the plague. [down]

Crappiest service I have had and total ripoff in terms of pricing for the work they do.

It sounds like you need to build a good reationship with Richmond Audi. I know some of the sales persons will lend their own vehicles as loaners if the service department doesn't have any. Again, this is with a good relationship with someone you bought a car off.

I finally got my delivery date for my car... May 5th or so [:(]

They use Enterprise rent-a-car service if their in house loaner vehicles are all gone. In general, they reserve those for the A8's, S4's, RS4's (high-end Audi's.) So like you said, building a good-relationship with a particular salesman if important but it is very rare in my opinion for one of them to go so far as to give up their own car.

I like OpenRoad because they've always given awesome loaner cars, basically brand new A4's or A3's. However, their service manager is an absolute dick as mentioned earlier and their service is horrendous.

If I were you, I would hit up Richmond Audi if you are still under warranty. If you are not, go to a specialty shop like RPI Equipped or PG Performance.

Speaking of independent Audi shops in Vancouver. Blitzkreig has done some great work on Winstons (Podi) car. I've dealt with Kinetic in the past, and they are great for buying parts from, but I have yet to hear of someone being happy after they had their car worked on their. I had my car worked on their myself, and I definitely am not happy. VMAutoHaus is also a good place locally to try and find OEM parts for cheaper than the dealership.

Hmmm, I had my clutch installed at Kinetic and my experience was pretty good. What happened when you were there? I also had work done at Blitzkrieg and I give them two thumbs up.

Just stay away from Openroad Audi.

Go get a root canal done or poke a chopstick in your eye, but don't go to Openroad Audi for service.

Well.. unless you like to bend over and ask for seconds.

PGperformance is going to be doing all my servicing for me. Well after the 1st years free services are done at the dealer.

They are 7 minutes from my house. I have a a good relationship with Paul as do my friends. I have 2 buddies with VW's that go through PGperformance.

Wow, I've only had good service experience from Open Road...then again, the car was still under b2b warranty.
What problems did you have with them? You can PM me if you don't want to post it here.

Where do I begin...

- needed an oil change done and instead of taking it to my Capilano dealership or Richmond I thought I'd take it to there and they said they can do it while I wait. A 30 minute oil change turned into 90 minutes and I end up paying $70 more for the parts required for the job as they inflated all of the prices. [down]

- I get told off by the old guy that is at the service desk for having 'aftermarket seats' as I have an airbag light on my dash and they won't clear it. I didn't know OEM S4 Recaros were considered aftermarket seats

- I'm also told that since my car is so heavily modified that I am lucky they even performed the oil change on my car as they do not want to be liable for anything that would go wrong

- When I get in my car all the stuff a tech would put on the seats and mats to keep them clean when they drive the car were still in the car

This all happened in one afternoon!

I rather take my car to a Ford dealership for service than to put it in the hands of Openroad Audi EVER again.

EDIT: I forgot to add that after I paid for the ripoff service I'm told "By the way your wiper clip is damaged. We secured it down for you as we were not sure you wanted it repaired"

How the f**k does a wiper clip break during an oil change? And how did they secure it? Black electrical tape.

I was at Richmond Audi yesterday and had at an best average experience. They were fairly slow and not especially accommodating, the labor is very expensive, etc.

I have confidence in the work they did, but I didn't feel especially welcome as I had an American car/warranty, because it was CPO, and because I'm not old enough to rent a car, the service became problematic. They didn't give me a loaner car and didn't facilitate renting one through the company they use. I ended up waiting in their loungey café place for over 5 hours and paid $590 in taxes, labor, and a mysterious 'miscellaneous charges'. Even the crappy dealership in Colorado gives out loaners or AT LEAST shuttles you home/to the dealership... They also decided to count a recall service as the first in service date rather than the first actual service.

Unless it's definitely warranty work, I doubt I'll be back at Audi of Richmond.

Oh, and I have awkward proportions and am pretty tall. The messed up my seat position and it was really comfy before! :p

I have a story regarding Open Road Audi which I had forgotten to mention...

I was heading out to Vancouver from my home in White Rock one day during the summer and just before the bridge, my car started acting funning...CEL light came on and I called up Richmond and they said to pull over right away because it seemed like one of my coil packs had given out. They said I could bring the car into their dealership, but it would be a few days till they could look at it. I decided to call my Roadside Assistance and they sent a tow truck out and we decided to go to Open Road since it would be faster.

The service bay was up the street and around the corner from the actual dealership. Car got dropped off and I waited outside for about 10minutes before someone came out...The guy had a funny smirk on his face and I assumed it was just him being nice and try to make light of my situation. Then he stands there and just stares at me.....and laughs and shakes his head.

I ask what was so funny? And he goes, "I know you, I've dealt with you before..."

Now it's important to note that my car is bone-stock apart from tinted windows and an after-market Navigation unit. Also, I have never met this service manager "Mike."

Anyways, he goes on and says he can't look at my car because I have done after-market modifications to it and that my warranty is void on my entire car....

WHAT!? I have purchased EXTENDED warranty and am at 60,000KM on a 2005 car and my warranty is VOIDED because I have tinted windows! Haha...at the end of the day, I had to call up Audi Roadside Assistance AGAIN and get them to tow my car from Open Road to Richmond b/c open road refused to look at it even though they had no idea what was wrong...I waited another 2hrs at the dealership, alone next to my car, waiting for the tow truck as he ironically drove off in his Honda Accord.

Anyways, the story has been shortened quite a bit since i'm in class and my proff is starring me down but the jist of it is all there. The coil pack did indeed end up being the problem and it was fully warrantied of course.

5 stars for the Service Manager MIKE at Open Road Audi.

Wow, those stories do not shed a good light on Open Road. Sorry to hear about your troubles with them.

BTW, I've modified my car (suspension, wheels, body stuff) and there has been no mention of voided 'anything' when I took my car in for service to Open Road. They've always treated me well and promptly. They've shuttled me to and from the dealership as well.

I guess, so far so good (knock on wood).

It has actually been a way better experience than when I had the Jetta and went to Clarkdale for service.

Richmond FTW
Open Road of Vancouver [down] not only shitty service, the people at the front desks are ass holes, with no idea how to treat a customer.
North Van. never been there, but have heard good things.

I also would like to say that I would never go to a stealership unless I had a warranty issue.

I was at Clarksdale and now i have gone to Open Road.

I know Winston would rather endure medievil torture than go back there but I have to say I've had no issues there.

Hey Winston, did you deal with Mark or Bob? That's night and day. Mark was my service advisor the first time I went to OR....man, i was considering driving to North Van. Bob is a great guy, always took care of me and turned a blind eye to some of my mods.

however, i would not go to richmond again, they were rather condescending and too busy to take care of me and my poor man's audi.

Here's my experience so far:

IMHO:

Open Road Audi has some serious problems with their service advisors...spoke to the service manager after a terrible experience with them and he was very candid in admitting they've got some issues with their customer service. He did apologize, however i doubt i'll ever go back there again.

Audi of Richmond...aside from Norman is a waste of time to deal with as well. Norman is a bit of an enthusiasts and takes time to get to know the people that make up the local Audi community. The service manager on the other hand, (can't remember his name) is a complete asshat. Terrible attitude and no people skills sums it up. I had a similar experience to the OP in this thread. Went to school in Cali, returned home one summer with Cali plates on my car and went to Audi of Richmond for an oil change (just out of warranty)...my car was delivered back to me with a cel (ripped vac hose) and a 700.00 dollar bill. Service manager just smirked and said thank you for the business...[down]

Cap Audi...good service so far, mod friendlier.

RPI...can't go wrong with them
INGO...best guy to deal with...knows what he's doing. PM me for his number. Aside from Warren and Tom (RPI) the only person i'd trust with my car

PG...good people
Blitz...good guys...still waiting to see if Winston's car gets sorted out
Kinetic...never had them work on my car, however i've heard some horror stories...Clay's a good guy, great for getting parts
