That was an announcement made by Audi Canada's President at the unveiling of the A5 at the Montreal Auto show.
The actual MSRP and pricing for options is yet unknown. Hopefully they will be released soon.

Ouch, this is bad.
I've been waiting for them to announce the A5 price for some time now, but $52k seems too high considering that the 335xi coupe is only $54k. Even though they said "below $52k", it is safe to assume that the MSRP will be $51950 or some number close to $52k.
I'm going to import a used one from the US.

It is, I find, expensive, compared to a 335xi. However, I find it to be a much more refined car. Tradeoff: Less power, more sophisticated. The 335xi is perhaps 54.1k base price, but comes with less equipment that the A5.
Remember, a base 3.2 A4 is around 50k. The A5 has tons of additional equipment as standard. Considering that, I find the pricing not so bad (although still expensive, as I'll never have put so much money on a car...)
I love both cars (also tried the 335xi, I'll give it to ya - it's a blast to drive!! and also looks good). But I chose the A5 for its better looks, MUCH better interior and IMHO, better AWD system, and excellent experience with Audi so far.
Also, I've seen already too many 335s on the road.

I'm sure I will, thx! You'll have tons of fun with your 335xi as well (and beat me at a red light, hehe)
