Hey everybody,

Was curious to know about anybodies experience with 20's on there ride. Im wanting to know about any clearance issues or rubbing problems or anything at all. I spose the most important thing is that its still gonna give me a comfortable ride, which i dont want to loose.

Thanks all for your help,

Chris

haha.... search (there are many threads out there with suggested wheels/tires/suspension). I wouldn't go any larger than 19"s, however personally, I think 18"s look the best on a B5...

'comfortable ride' and '20" wheels' on a B5 don't even go together in a sentence....

can you bolt 20 inch rims onto your compact sedan? yes.

will you maintain ride comfort? not in the least. think about how much rubber is on the car and how heavy those wheels would be.

would it look absurd? yup.

19s are plenty big on this platform.

20s will fit, as long at theyre not too low of an offset and you have 30-series tires.

it will be uncomfortable. you will also lose acceleration due to the weight.

get 18's.

With 20"s I am sure you are going to have clearance issues, rubbing problems, and an uncomfortable ride.

So really we think 19s are the best to go for, and perhaps spend the rest of the $$$ on some better suspension??? Coil overs the best to go?

No, 18s are the best to go for. Then spend the rest of money on suspension or whatever your heart desires.

general principal:

B5-18s look best
B6-19s look best
B7-19s or 20s for nice look

20s fit on B5, but if you want nicer look don't push it past 19s.

hold up, where are you going to find such a low profile tire to fit the car with the correct load carrying capacity?

"Just bought a Cadillac"

For sure on the smaller wheels, I'd say 17 tops and save for a nice drop, will make all the difference in the world.

I have had 16, 17, and 18's on my car and the 18's were hell, I would take longer routes just to avoid beat up streets and they only get easier to bend the bigger the wheel.

19's are pimp! They look awesome on our B5's. Its really between 18 and 19 and it also depends on what style wheel your going with.Anything with a dark center/polished lip style wheel, go 19's....as the darker center makes it look smaller.Anything with a flat front(example. Rs4 wheels) usually you can get away with an 18 if your trying to achive the "biggest" looking wheel without the hassle of 20's.

i got some 10's but i keep em' clean though..........

no seriously i have 19's and love them, they are not uncomfortable with some quality tires. only thing is they make a little more road noise, nothing really bad.

my boy runs rial daytonas on his 01 s4. no issues what so ever. it makes the car look like one of those cartoon t-shirts of b5's.

wheels: rial daytonas 20x8.5 not sure offset
tires 235-30-20 not sure what brand

19s if you don't daily drive the car, 18s or smaller if you do.

I didn't notice a huge difference between 17s and 18s.

They are rough because of the lower profile tire you have to get. If you dont mind a semi harsh ride go for it.

Those wheels just look all wrong on that car, almost like it's headed the same direction as the 26" joke...

And since this thread has already been resurrected...

I dare someone to put hydraulics in their B5.
I've thought about it, it would be nice to raise the car up and drive over the curb sometimes... [:D]
Maybe do a little off-roading while I'm at it [drive] [;)]

Correct. I've 19"ers w/ chrome lip & black center at the moment, and they actually seem smaller than my prev. 18" BBS RC's. As for ride, my current 19" setup (w/ Nittos/Eibachs/Bilsteins) is far better than my prev. 18" setup (w/ Bridgestones/H&Rs/Bilsteins). So bigger rim size does not necessarily equate to a more jarring ride.

19's look huge on a B5, I can't honestly imagine how 20's would look.

I'm currently running 8.5"x18" rims. I might however upgrade to 9.5" or even 10"x18". So, would go wider, but not taller.

there was a green colored avant in pvw years back with 20's on it. it did look very big.
i think i threw a couple issues away when i moved into my house. or i would try and find it. they were along the lines or merc. wheels
