i have a 99.5 a4 1.8t... the car currently has 154000 miles. the first owner was a dealership kind of guy and has records for everything including the timing belt at 75,000. the second owner doesnt have any records... hee did all of the work himself. i am wondering if there is anyway i can see if the timing belt was replaced a second time? any ways to tell? what should it look like? idk lol

ps yes i searched didnt really pull much up except for ppl saying well why chance anything just change it... blah blah blah

well if the second owner bought the car with a t/b change knowingly at 75k i doubt he would have done so again although it is recomended.

why dont you just ask the guuy?

you can pull the cover off and see if there are bad signs of wear. If it was changed within 10k it shouldn't look that bad. But yeah get it changed if you're not sure.
