View Full Version : RS6 flywheel in my car??

I've made a thread showing my disgust toward my latest experience with the dealership, but thought i'd branch off to this topic. Turns out my throw-out bearing and flywheel are shot (under warranty), but the dealership has no idea where my flywheel came from. They've ordered multiple flywheels and none of them match my current one. They said it looks like an RS6 flywheel and it may have been assembled incorrectly when the car was first made.
Can this be true?? They are having an Audi tech look at the car today for further diagnostics. I bought the car used with 18k miles, but with no signs of modifications. They are stumped!

What engine do you have I4, V6 or V8?

Sounds like B.S. to me. I don't see how it would be possible for you to get a different flywheel. How would a different flywheel happen to make itself into a assembly line and no one notice. And if so, wouldn't it have gotton torn up alot faster then it actually did.
Something sounds fishy to me!

This is in my 2.0...and yes, I feel it's BS as well, we'll see what the Audi Tech says.

There is no way you have an RS6 flywheel on your four banger. No way, no how.

Wouldn't you also think that a RS6 flywheel would hold up better, seeing as it has to hold up to to 450hp not 200.

Theoretically yes! But if it is a different size, which they are saying it is, it should not line up properly in the engine potentially causing a veriety of issues including self destruction

Ah ok, wasn't sure if there was a difference in diameter's of the flywheels, or what not.
Wait a second, weren't all US RS6's automatic? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, the only RS6 sedans shipped to the US were all automatics. Which means they didn't come with flywheels, they had flexplates instead.

Haha not to mention we haven't seen an RS6 in a couple years, and we won't see one for another year or two, and they would probably be automatic also ( or dsg). Also, american cars are made separately from european spec cars right? Man, he's getting BS'd big time.
