Right now I got a 99 A4 1.8T Quattro, and I am lookingto upgrade my turbo. So far I have a Neuspeed Cat-Back Exhaust, FMIC, and Neuspeed Short Shift Kit. They have all been installed and doing great. But what I really want to know is, is it better to go for the cheaper KO4 upgrade, or the really expensive GT28RS? Because ultimately I want this car fast. Really fast.

Thanks a bunch!

determine your HP goal and your budget first. If you have a generous budget, go with a gt2871r. I have a t25 flanged manifold for sale to get your started.

You can't go really fast with a K04 unless it is a 1.8t in a Rabbit

No it's not the rabbit haha, but I still don't want to get a KO4, then a while later re-upgrade to the GT28RS because that would obviously be a waste of a lot of money.

depends on what you're after. me, i'm starting to do a lot more track days and think the k04 would be plenty of power right now. once i start to become a better driver around the track and can exit turns at about 90% throttle, then i'll see if i can go faster. if you like straight line speed, then the GT sounds like a better bet.

i have a g28r and spool time is not a problem.
I wish i went with a true 2871r from the beginning though.

This is an ongoing debate. K04 is not that cheap, depending if you are buying new or used. K04 is a very basic install and there is not much to worry about once its in. GT series requires a lot more time to get it running. Both can last forever if you take care of them and do regular maintanence. Im going the k04 route because my car will always be a DD and I do not need 300+ hp. I will be satisfied with 240-270hp with a K04 and a bunch of supporting mods (j-31 file, injectors, mbc, afpr, exhaust, exhaust mani, HFC, FMIC, Carbonio, etc...)
