Im going to test NOT GUILTY for the "loud modified exhaust" ticket. I need audizines help on what i should do about it, i was thinking i should get a mechanics receipt saying i had a crack in my exhaust/air to fuel ratio was messed up...SOMETHING that can prove me not guilty, or Close to.

Heres my post, http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182649
Explaining what happened that night, but i can take care of the other tickets, just this one i need help with...

I am going to tell the judge i have a modified exhaust, and since im lowered i run the risk of scraping my exhaust...Just need to further prove what exactly happened and have the mechanic write something in...

HELp please, i need to send in ticket by tomorrow morning...thanks azine

My only suggestion is to not try and rationalize it to the judge. Don't say anything about it not being fair. Honestly I wouldn't even waste my time if I got the ticket. Your chances of winning are slim to none.

Stop trying to be Paul Walker when the nawwwsss hits and you wont have to worry about bs like this.

Yeah, if it's no points, you might as well just pay the fine and be on your way.

well depending on how you have pled it might not matter what you say. There are usually several options on the ticket. There are generally two choices that have you going to court. 1. this is basically I am guilty but there is a good reason and the other is 2. I am not guilty. Generally for 1. it is my experience that they just go by a formula. if its your first ticket in several years they knock the ticket down 50% the next ticket you get will be less off and so on. In my expereince you can go in and give them a sob story and still they just follow the formula. If option 2 you have a chance to provide some evidence to show you are i"innocence". The police officer may show up and provide evience of your guilt. Generally the result of this option is either you pay the whole fine, or none of it depending on who the judge believes.

Fix it, get a note from a mechanic stating the exhaust has been returned to OEM and bring that to your court date.

If you won't get points from the ticket then suck it up and pay the fine. That's the price you pay to play.

in NY, i don't think this would be a point based offense. better just to pay the ticket and forget about it. fighting the law on no-point issues is a waste.
I only send in my lawyer when points are at stake.
I have only seen a court room once, and have gotten at least 30 tickets.

Do whatever would be cheaper: fixing the exhaust for the court date then changing it back or paying the fine...

I say that you are lucky you got the loud exhaust ticket and not fined for the test pipe. There is a reason they call them a test pipe, they are meant to be put in so that you can test to see if what you took out is giving you the problem. I have one on my truck I use to drive and I would have to take it off every time I went to get an emissions test. Not sure about where you are, but here in California it would be bad to get caught tampering with the emissions part of your exhaust. I use to have a 2001 Camaro SS with basically no muffler. I got into a "discussion" with a police officer one night about how loud it was. Just then, a Harley Davidson passed us and I made mention of how they are twice as loud as me and no one ever bothers them. He left me alone, but I was probably over the sound limit. I say pay the ticket and be done with it.

Most cops don't know enough about cars to realize that most people with modified exhausts run test pipes.

Fix it ticket means you have to get inspected by the ticketing agency (ie. NJPD\NJHP)
sooooo I'd suggest making a fake paper with your exhaust on it saying that it's under the required decible limit and the cop didn't measure the limit with a device, only his ears.
