So i just bought a set of b5 s4 rims from a friend for, like it says $50. They are scratched up a bit and one is bent, but i didnt wanna pass them up for that kinda dough. What should i do? [confused]

1) Wet sand them and repaint them myself (black, silver, white?)

2) Get them powdercoated, and if so how much is that gonna run me?

3) Just say fuck it and touch 'em up quickly and throw 'em on?

The good..

Nice find.

Have a wheel repair person fix the bend. They range from like $80~$125 to fix a bent wheel. You could repair the face of the wheel if you have the time/patience. Look up DIY wheel repair, there are several threads on it. Oh yeah, keep them silver if/when you repaint.

Edit: just noticed they were replica's, but still nice find.

i think you got the deal of the century. well, maybe not century. but those rims dont look that bad at all. and the bend will def come out fine.

^^what he said^^

My brother hit the curb hella hard. He had RS4 reps (came off his 04 USP) I sanded them down myself and painted them and they look as good as new. I dont think you should get them powdercoated. If you do paint them paint them silver again. About the bent rim, I dont know what that would run you but it dosent look too bad. I would go for it!

You think i can take the bend out myself? Heat and covered hammer?

Also, what kinda paint should i use, would plain silver spray be nice enough? I dont want chrome, but i like a little luster [:D]

and thanks everyone for the posts!

block of wood and a good framing hammer will take that right out. used to do it all the time.

Get the bent wheel fixed and paint the rest yourself. Otherwise to have them powdercoated is gonna cost anywhere from 50-100 per wheel and then you gotta factor in new tires. Itll add up quickly and cost as much as buying a new set of wheels and tires. I was in the same boat but I got rid of my set. Actually I needed a 4th wheel b/c one was DOA so it didnt help my situation. But I think you got a great deal.

I repainted my $100 S4 wheels (w/ tires) in the link below.

I didn't even sand or prep, and so far its been holding up perfectly....they were 100xs worse than yours.

How long did the paint take to dry? I'll prolly repaint my RS4's before I sell the car.

Duplicolor Silver Can pick it up at any autozone/pep boys

Just because you own a 12V doesnt mean you cant make your Audi look nice.

A simple suspension tint and nice rims will give the car some character , therefore , money well spent, not dumped (to most of us at least)

BTW were the extra bolt patterns drilled in?

true! Im doing minor stuff to cutomize it and make it look good.. But i want a new car in the next year/2.. either a newer 1.8tqm and mod it, or a sporty car... i love the 944 turbo... [:D]

anyway what do you mean drilled in? like since they were manufactured? Im pretty sure they came like that, they were my bosses, then my friend got them, never used them on a car, then i picked em up. is that a problem?

thnx

Beware of powdercoating! The heat needed to do so can seriously damage the structural integrity. It has been witnessed on other forums, I forget if it was forged or cast but make sure you do the research first..

You don't have to really do anything about the bend as long as it's not leaking. Just make sure it's balanced good, and yes do it right the first time so paint them, that way you don't have to take the tires off again.
