Ok, so I'm looking to get a boost gauge but don't know what make (yes I know that my sig says the Stweart Warner but rethinking that.) Local tuner carries Defi but those are a lot, and then u have to but the control modual also. So any suggestions would be helpful.

That defi digital is sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool, but it is so stupid they make you get the control module. They could sell so many of those I think if you didn't need that piece. I just don't understand that.
You want one of these

That is cool, it needs at least one more step in its opening ceremony, mayb the number lighting up Still very cool
How accurate are the VEI digital gauges? Those are pretty cool.

How much just for the gauge? I already have a podi w/ an earlier SW gauge.

The numbers light up immediately on startup and the opening sequence is just a +30 to -30 sweep then it is operating.
The VEI gauges are extremely accurate.

The electronic stepper motor gauges are being made to replace the Omori gauges I used to carry.
So in terms of price the gauge kit with all fittings will be sold $169 and with a pod for $249
If you wanted to upgrade I suggest you keep an eye out for the presale I will be having to introduce the new gauge and B5 pod when they are completed.

soo, have you seen the opening sequence for hte Defi's?? they ar et-eh cooooolest!! I bought a complete set for my R33 while I was in Japan and they were so awesome I couldn't stand it!!
EDIT: NEVERMIND!! the new BF's have same old crappy startup of the one you posted.. it used to go like this: numbers come on in orange through the black face, then the face goes clear then the needle steps in small increments, not a sweep, then back to 0. new Defi start For-The-LOSE

it's simple, because there is only a stepper motor in the gauge body, all signal processing is in the control unit so the gauges are like 1" deep and easy to mount anywhere.. plus you only need ONE dasiy-chained cable to all meters rather than a whole set of wires to each. Just plug all the inputs into the controller, then run one cable to the first meter, then from there to the next and so on.. the meters simply do not work on their own.

Welll, some people don't like the control unit cuz u need to find some place to mount it, for the new Podi gauge, it's also a 1" deep gauge that you can mount anywhere you want, also, it only comes with an eletrical sensor where you can hide it inside the car or the engine hood...the gauge is accurate, easy to install...WHY? Becuz I am running it now.
Also, the new Podi gauge comes with a remote control which you can switch the needle color from white - red, red - white and also the background color from white - red, red - white. The gauge also has a very cool function that u can set the gauge to a particular PSI level; once you exceed that level of PSI, the gauge will keep blinking indicating as a warning sign.

the Defi control unit has an optional defi display unit that will give you an error message as well as display the gauge parameters, the gauges will also blink when exceeding a parameter and the control unit can be easily hidden inside your dash like many other control boxes.
But this Podi gaugee dealio sound p retty cool too. Can you also daisy chain them or do you have to independantly wire each meter?

They have to be wired indepenndantly...one sensor for one gauge

Simple make it thicker and put the brains in the gauge. and the they will "simply work on their own" [:D] The reason I say that is, lots of people want a boost gauge, and I bet lots of people would buy that cool defi one if you didn't have to buy the other gear. I don't think lots of folks are putting all the other gauges in their car.
It is probably marketed toward race drivers or someone who wants/needs all those gauges. If they just made a stand alone unit I bet they would sell quite a few, because its cool.

you are pretty correct on your assessment of the market approach. I bought them all for my GTR as it is a fun toy but gets reaaaaal expensive when it goes boom.

And THAT's why you don't put cheap, innacurate, slow-responding meters in you nice, expensive car :)
