So I may have found the dash noise that has been annoying the hell out of me for some time now.
My service manager said that the wiper cowl under the windshield has a huge crack in it from an aftermarket windshield being installed. WHAT?!
I just bought this car about a month ago, 2006 CPO from another dealership and there was nothing on CPO report about the windshield being replaced, or any damage to that area of the car. I MAY have to pay for the parts now, which is complete crap since I did not cause the noise. Im not sure what to do in this situation. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Want all original parts then buy a new car. Throw a rock at your windshield and then get your insurance company to pay for a replacement. Rock chips are common and replacing windshields is as well.

If you are going to get a new windshield through your insurance company you shouldn't have to do any more damage,

wait wait wait.. this car is CPO... dealership HAS to take responsibility for looking past this when they certified it. That's the point of CPO. I'd give AoA a call.

Insurance won't cover it if there is damage that was existing when he bought the car. A freshly broken windshield is the only sure way to get insurance to cover it.

Hey when you need to get something fixed there's always insurance fraud right?
And people wonder why we pay such high rates... [rolleyes]

Contact the dealership you bought the car from. Talk to your sales guy, if that does not work contact the GM, and then if that does not work contact AoA.
contacting AOA has been worthless in many situations. They do absolutely nothing to their "loyal" customers.

CPO is the biggest con out there by car dealerships.
It's a freakin USED car.

Windshield replacement is a minor issue, NOT a damage-repair situation, unless the windshield replacement was part of an accident. If there was an accident then there may be a report.
More than likely it was a simple windshield replacement, no big deal.
I have an 06 as well, and I had a rock cause a chip in my view, so I replaced the windshield, but I asked for an actual Audi replacement shield.
Just so you know, Audi does NOT necessarily do the replacement.
In fact, these days most shield replacements are done by shield replacement companies for the dealerships. My A4 was handled in that manner. I took my A4 to the Audi dealer, but the shield replacement company came to the dealership and did the work.
What you should find out from your dealer is why that broken part was NOT replaced or even discovered during the CPO process.
You should then ask the dealer to fix the problem under warranty, if the actual part is part of the warranty.
Bumper to bumper problems are only covered for 50k or 4 years on an Audi. The CPO has many exclusions after that period, and I believe most of the warranty items are more drive-train/line related.
I'm not positive on the full CPO warranty though, so do some reading.
The dealer should have checked that part, but if it was a hidden damage item, which it could be as that part is not a common problem to check, then they could offer to fix it for your for customer service sake.
However, if the part was damaged due to negligent installation, then you have to find out if the shield was replaced outside of Audi's knowledge, or did the customer use Audi to do the replacement as I did.
Just so you know, even if you opt to use an "aftermarket" shield, the Audi dealer will still act as representative for the repair even though they are not the one's actually doing the work. By taking in the car for the repair they take on the responsibility for it, IF it was done in the dealership.
In your case, the repair could have been done at the previous owners home or business and Audi had no idea about it, and isn't responsible for the damage that a non Audi repair person may have caused.
Unfortunately, A "CPO" Audi doesn't mean the car was originally sold and serviced at the Audi dealer you bought it from. The Audi dealer might have bought it from a lease auction and decided to certify it.
I hope they can help you out, but in the end you may just have to pay for the repair. It shouldn't cost too much as you don't need a new shield just a part under it.

Got it all figured out. The dealership I bought it from said they would cover the parts and labor. Wheww!
