ok so today i installed my fmic and spent about 10 hours tryng to get the bumper on.....i finally freaked out and wrecked both the bumper and support......does anyone know what bumper will fit over a fmic with no trimming (or in my case wrecking) at all...? I've heard the s4 bumper will but id like to know for sure before i go out and buy one

The S4 bumper I believe gives you the most room and is the easiest to install. I was able to get a precision core (3.5" thick) with very very minor cutting (I had to cut a little 1/8 inch off the bottom corners in the middle opening.) When I first installed the precision core i didn't cut anything but the bumper rubbed a little on the core.

Heres a pic of S4 bumper with a front mount. We could have kept the piping grilles in too, but i like showing the intercooler piping. I definitely didnt wanna get rid of my fogs tho. Just like showing that the car has a little balls. hehe

Well it depends on what FMIC you are installing as to how much trimming you will need.

the core i was using is 27x6x2.5 and the bumper would not go on because it was hitting the intercooler on the sides where the lower valence (unpainted part) meets the bumper

I sure hope you mean that it was 27" inlet/inlet or end tank/endtank. Because there would be no way to fit a 27" core. If those measurement do include the end tanks you should be able to fit it with the S4 bumper, I run a 24" core(30" including end tanks) behind my S4 bumper without any problems. You might want to add some 45 deg hoses at the inlet/outlets so that the pipes can be pushed back so they will fit behind the grills.

Mike has a 3.5" core behind the S4 bumper. he also removed the ac core so he has more clearance. I think he has a space between his FMIC and the radiator (don't know how thick). I was able to fit a 3.5" FMIC behind the S4 bumper and had to trim about an 1/8th of an inch away from the corner. at first I didn't but it was rubbing so I ended up doing the very little trimming right at the corner.

Yeah my core sits down low so that it cant sit flush against the radiator seeing that the AC core is no longer. This is because there is a hump for the radiator support that sticks out from the radiator but sits behind the AC core. If I had to I could most likely fit a 4" core in there if I had it sit high enough to sit flush with the radiator.

I also had to trim just a little from those corner spots so they wouldn't rub on the core and I had to remove the 2 lower grill tabs that the side grills hold onto.
