Lost my one and only key to the car friday night( The plastic key is in the glove compartment), now the car is sitting at my friends house. What would be the cheapest way to get into the car and grab that plastic key. I tried insurance they dont cover me for a lockout. Should i go the stealership and ask for a new one? I know the square alarm key is $200, but how much would the Valet key be?

once the doors are locked you cannot use the button inside to open the door so that wont work

but you can pull on the door handle with the same tool

Actually, if the alarm is set, pulling the handle doesn't unlock the door.

To jimmy a car, you need to slide a hook (coat hanger) between the window and the door panel (outside of car). Then you want to try to aim the hook towards the latch. What your aiming for is a bar that is attached to the handle. It is easiest to pull up near the latch.

Out of curiousity, how do you lock yourself out of the car with the key in the ignition?

Do you like, start the car, open the door, close the door, go in through the passenger side, lock the door, close that door?

What?

thats a very good question! Usually when you hit the lock button with the drivers door open it doesnt lock the drivers door. However, i went out one night to warm up my car and did this process, yet when i went back to the car it was locked! It wasnt fun either, probably -5F in chicago

I've locked myself out before because I pulled into a parking lot to get something from my trunk. Left the car running, keys in the ignition stepped out and closed the door and went to open the trunk. All the doors and trunk locked when I pushed keyhole for the trunk. I think this is to prevent car jacks. But very incovenient. I remember a story when a member locked his new born baby in the car for the same reason in a hot summer day. With out thinking he smashed the window to get his child. This feature should be disabled.

I'd take this option!

and i would break a back window just because its cold out and then the air isnt right next to you until you get it fixed..

What about the small window on the back door?

Not sure if you can reach much from there though.

valet key is like 60 dollars from the dealer.. bring the title with you so they know the car is yours and so they can get the vin number to cut the key

When I locked my keys in my car the tow guy put a wedge in between the pillar and top of the drivers door then we got a hanger and pulled the door handle. The sad part was that it took him like 5 min to break into my car. My bro ended up locking them in my car again a few weeks later, it was way to easy to break in but I was glad I knew how to do it

I think i just invented the perfect tool to break into my audi. its almost done so i will test it later on and see if it will work. I looked at the door frame and all the components through a pictorial view and came up with a design. Will let you know how it works out.

I got into my car from the trunk one time. reached through the ski bag opening and used a device to pull the door handle

Got it open with a 2 ft. long piece of wire i custom made to fit into the cockpit. DIY. But im not gonna write it out because i dont want peoples cars to start getting broken into. Took me 2 minutes, no damage, no prying anything open.

Nice. Any of you guys ever try breaking a car window? Its alot harder then you would think. Just taking a hammer and going at it won't get you anywhere. You need something that can put a ton of stress in a small area.
