ALright so im heading back from my university on a major road im on almsot everyday. For about 3 miles down the road, theres those lincoln town car headlights (like police car hlights) behind me the wholeeee way, so i was going the speed limit the wholeeee way. Examined the car the best i could those 3-3.5 miles, and looked 100% like a normal car, along with a grey haired couple inside, thinking "oh its one of those elderly couples in them town cars". The odd thing that made me think twice before even going over the speed limit was they did make a swift maneuver in back on me in the beginning of there journey following me, but i said "nahhhh cant be"... Also it seemed to me that a infiniti g35 challenged me down this stretch of road in the beginning of the journey too, he went well over the limit, and what i thought to be a normal town car didnt hesitate to go after them...
So here i am, 120 in the morning, with my friend, 3.5 miles down the road, heading onto another main road and a WELL KNOWN place for cops with radar hiding, so im going to limit. Just as i see the elderly couple put on the signal to make a left, and speed up, THE TESTPIPE kicks in, quad mufflers go offf, and that magnifcent mean audi stance makes this "elderly couple" FLY RIGHT BEHIND ME, and pull me right over.
"fuck...."
Man comes over, woman goes on opposite side, asks for the goods i give the papers to him, he heads back to the car, and the woman has the balls to go "you were doing good the whole time and what made you mess up at the end????" (you BITCH!)
The cop comes back, he goes listen, "your sicilian like me, this is the deal...you were going 48 in a 30 (i ask how, he says by a speed pacer) you were doing good the whole time and lnybrook court is very easy with tickets so when you do go to court on march 4th, explain to them that your speedometer is defected, something along those lines, and you can get that ticket dismissed, trust me. As for the the other tickets, you have 24 hours to get the mufflers fixed or you can get another ticket from another cop, and the other ticket is for tint (15%)."
I explained to him that im on the road everyday, and i know its heavily monitored and it just so happens i sped up, told him about the g35 and said that he was behind the cop the whole time and didnt do anything wrong (bullshit).
So what to do?...was thinking, go with a parent to court about the speeding ticket, explain to them what the cop told me (how he was monitoring me and how i "was abiding the speed limit the whole time, signaling lane changes", blah blah blah) make up a bullshit excuse...and hopefully not get points and not pay a fine.
As for the tinting, i have to pay it....i guess
As for the "Loud modified Exhaust/muffler", im thinking going to this shop i know and get a receipt saying there was something defective in the exhaust (maybe an o2 sensor disconnected air/fuel ratio creating noise).....
So thats it, im pissed, parents are dissapointed but know i abide by the law, and only speed a decent amount in the right occasion....and now im going to sleep, input appreciated, good luck to all...
AND WATCH OUT FOR http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e13/jojogoya88/cdocuments_and_settingsgreg_polkmy_.jpg

"Nice car, speeds real well."
that's the first thing the female cop said to me when she pulled me over and i rolled down my window. i said nothing, did nothing and that was the first thing she said.
i was in a 40 mph zone, and she wrote me up for doing 50 in a 30...you better believe i'll be fighting that one.
you and me reppin' the suck for li.

Sorry to hear both the stories guys, I had run in with a cop. But I WAS CLEARLY SPEEDING. I was late to a very important occasion. I was doing 98 in a 55. Lucky for me I am in the military and the cop gave me "the speach" ........"There's no fire, slow down. Better to get there late, then to arrive in a body bag". Wrote me up for 65 in a 55. I paid $85 bucks no points on the license. Haven't done alot of speeding since.
What I'd be lying if I said I haven't sped at all. Oh, I also realize my story is not as entertaining as yours as well.
Don't they need to scientifically measure the volume of your exhaust? Or is it simply enough for them to say its too loud? What about Ferrari's they are loud do they get booked too?

california's law is, a "modified exhaust to permit a louder sound." and they have "state referee" (specialized mechanic) which will inspect ur car if u tried to lie and fight the ticket by saying its not modified. thats california tho, majority of the states follow the same laws, some slgihtly modified.

Actually yours is very entertaining in that I think you are one of the few on AZ that EVER admitted to actually speeding when they've been pulled over for it! Usually it's the cops fault, or the "blue conspiracy" against all tuners and never, ever a case of lead foot! [drive]
As far as being in the military - thanks for doing what you do![hail]

six speed turbo - it's great being in the military, isn't it. It's a tough job, but there are definitely benefits.
op - I would probably just do what the cop said. It sounds like he was trying to help you out. My sisters car actually had a problem with the speedo and when she got a ticket they dismissed it due to the faulty part. You may want to have that shop write something for that too.

Eh, that sucks, not much you can do about it most the time unless you personally know a high ranking officer or a friend of the one that pulled you over. I actually am about to go sit in a 4 hour class today to make sure my last ticket doesn't put points on my license, fun stuff.

illegal mufflers, illegal tint...... pay the fine. That is the risk you run when you run equipment that is not lawful. I don't say that to be mean, in my opinion if you risk it to have have that cool gear you need to feel the consequences when you get caught. Just my $0.02 hope it all works out for you.
p.s I got two speeding tickets within three weeks of getting my audi. I came from a slow toyota pickup. The first ticket I was going 83 in a 55 which is very bad in oregon. I told the officer, the truth, that I was passing a car and didn't realise i was going that fast becuase it was a new car and alot faster than my old one. he gave me a break and it was a $244 ticket. The second ticket a couple weeks later was on the freeway in washington coming home from a seahawks game. I was speeding abeing a jackass, had no excuse, didn't offer one and the ticket was $150. Now I can't drive between 12:30am and 5:30am in the month of January because of driving restriction. Not much of a restriction I might add, I am old and therefore in bed by 10. hehehehe
good luck. Drive slow from now on or your driving record will really suffer and your insurance will go crazy, especially if you are younger than 25.

I just got a speeding ticket on I-95. I was going 77 in a 55 and the cop wrote me up for a seatbelt violation instead. It was a nice move on his part. I was wearing my seatbelt by the way he just wanted to give me a ticket just a lesser one.
Stick to the 15 over rule and you will never get pulled over.

after midnight they pull people over just to examine, especially if you are young. They might as well write you up for what they see/hear.
I am pulled over all the time, I don't even care anymore. A lot of the time I am speeding. But I just give the ticket to my lawyer and let him take care of it. 500 bucks every few months. I don't even have insurance in my name anymore, its too expensive.

first @ the op, u really think old people are up at 1am?
as for the the story, that blows dude, but u live on LI, its a fact of life, they dont like modified cars
ps i own my car, but my mother (who has NEVER driven my car) is the primary driver on it, so when they run my plates, the primary comes up a 50something yr old polish woman [up] , and with tints, they cant really tell whos driving [up][up]

^tru dat.
I had a ticket in Upland here in SoCal for my tint (5% all around) and euro front licensce plate, Both of them were fix it tickets and would drop the tickets from $225 to $40 as long as i proved to the court, but runnin these a t my risk, I say F-that. n screw this cop, n ended up paying the whole ticket and not changing a damn thing. I care....I just luv the way my ride looks and I do it AT MY OWN RISK.[drive]

usually if you remove your tints and show that you have already removed them, they will dismiss the tint ticket... but it might just be cheaper paying the 75-125 then paying another 200 to re-tint them lol

my solution for tint is get a note from a dermatologist, say you need the tint for your skin and you dont have to take it off.

Only here of LI do you get suckered into BS like that. The exhaust ticket is garbage. My dad has a viper and the stock exhaust sets car alarms off when he gets up there in the RPM's.

I am very honest. I like the rush of speeding and all, but I don't like getting tickets. ( WHO DOES RIGHT ) I think it's a little silly to come and lie on a public forum. I was speeding, what can I say. I got a ticket, and it was well deserved. I just got lucky that day.
Thanks for the respect for me and all my fellow military brothers and sisters, we definately appreciate it when people are thankful for our sacrifices. Right now I am in Baghdad, Iraq. So the 'ZINE is kinda keeping me sane, and I thank all of you for that.

What a coincidence, I got pulled over this morning for a "random check".
I was following polizei on a 70km/h road, and slowed down to give a bigger gap between us... knowing there was a unrestricted zone approaching, so I accelerated once I hit the unrestricted sign and ended up passing the polizei going around 200km/h (they were going around 90km/h I suppose)... he didn't do anything. But when I slowed down a mile or so down the road he didn't and just came up on me and pulled me over. First thing I did was roll the windows down to avoid the tint being brought up. He said it was random, started asking me ?'s to see if I was drunk (it was around 7am), checked my information... then he and his partner went to the back of the car so I couldn't hear them talk and came back and asked me to see my warning triangle and medikit (required in germany), so I was going to show them (it's buried in with the spare), opened the trunk and they saw of was full of stuff and told me to not worry about it, because they "know I have it". Then they tell me they are going to need 20Euro... and ask me if I have it on me... I tell them "no", and they try to convince me to go to the ATM up the road to get it... I keep telling them "no" and that I didn't do anything wrong, and that if they are going to try to get some money that they need to write me a ticket for something. They say they'll be right back... get in their van, sit there for a few minutes... then turn off the lights and walk back up to the car and tell me to drive more slowly.
Nice how they tried to get some money out of me for nothing...
The experience wasn't that bad, just stressful that they tried to cheat me of some money; and I'd rather rant about it on the internet than go to the station to complain about it.
I wouldn't have a problem paying on the spot, or even giving them the case of beer in the trunk if I had actually done something wrong...

I don't think I ever wrote about this, but me and AvantYeti drove up to Munich to ship his car back to the states. When we got up there we had to go get money quickly, so we were speeding a little on the nice wide roads. As we entered the city this unmarked van pulled up with plain clothed polizei in it waving their stupid wand at us. We pulled over and when they got out they looked like college kids. My wife is Austrian (German speaking) so she asked them for some ID to make sure they were really cops. We asked what we were doing wrong and they said nothing and that it was a random check. They made us open everything up and they started looking around. They took our papers and our military ID's and began looking those over. We then had to move our cars to a parking lot so they could continue looking at them. They finally told us that there was a ring of car thieves that were bringing stolen cars to Germany and selling them there. We were like we are US military and these are clearly American cars. We even had the guy who was supposed to ship the car talk to the polizei so they would let us go, because the shipper was staying late for us. The polizei said that they were waiting on some "experts" to come and tell them if the cars are legit. They said that the VIN numbers looked like they were stamped differently and that they were too different from one another. Our cars are very different and they were made at different times so no shit they are different and they were stamped differently. After about 2 hours the "experts" showed up and quickly let us go, of course, after they sat there and chatted for a while. That has to be the worst I have ever been harassed by the cops. I think the German Polizei are the worst cops I have ever seen. I don't go up there too much but I get stopped a lot and it is always just a random check. I am pretty sure it is because I have an Italian license plate. Ok, I'm done.
