not sure if the clutch switch is a normally open or normally closed switch but you need to either open the circuit or keep it closed all the time... all depends on what type of switch the clutch switch is...

because when you dis engauge your clutch the cruse control will shut off it you have it turned on. and when you mod ur clutch swich its basically telling the car the cluch is dis engauged all the time

I would imagine it would be a case of either shorting the switch out, or even some tape to hold it in. Its under the drivers knee bolster, follow the peddle up and you cant miss it

IIRC when the clutch is pushed in the switch allows a groud thru it, so if you cut the wire on either side of the switch you will no longer have to push the clutch in to start the car. If I am correct cutting the wire should not cause your cruise control to stop working since the cruise control will never know if you push the clutch in. Plus lets not forget that the 96-97's did not come with this clutch switch but yet they have cruise control. Dont make me pull out my meter to go check.[;)]

I can always check again because I have mine wired into a relay that allows me to trigger the signal from the switch so that I can use my anti-lag when I want it to be used and if I dont press the button on my steering wheel the anti-lag wont work even with the clutch pushed in.

i have a 98 a4 and i do not need to push down my clutch in order to start the car. interestingly my cruise control also doesnt work....

the previous owner was a working mom who just used the car to commute though, i doubt she would mess with anything

im back...

so according to mike its a noramlly closed switch, which means you have to close the circiut to override the push in clutch start feature...

what exactly are you trying to do btw?

I might upgrade to a remote start and alarm system but i just havent decided yet. If i do i think i will wait til next season when it is getting cold again. I just hate getting in a frozen car. I just dont have the funds at the moment cuz its all going into getting the car running back to normal.

could be a leak in the cc vaccum circuit, module, fuse, stalk, ect...
