I'm looking to get some more power out of my car. What are some good upgrades I can do to get more power out of my stock turbo? I've been looking into getting a chip, but the octane grade it requires isn't available at gas stations in my state. Also I would like to thank you guys for already teaching me all sorts of stuff from just browsing the forum. [up]

Your state doesn't have 91 octane? APR does have 91 octane software for 2001s.

If your filling up at Wawa, yeah they may not have 93 but most other gas stations do. Off the top of my head I know at least 4 gas stations in Reston that have 93oct

you have an 01, get a giac-x chip, best bang for the buck mod. and please start using 91 or better octane from now on if your not already doing so.

other supporting mods. are 710N DV from a TT or other upgraded DV. exhaust, testpipe, search and you will find.

If I put 91 into my car I would be spending $500 a month in gas, I already spend about 20 a day using the cheap stuff.

This is the first car I have had with a turbo so if i'm fucking up by putting in 87 please shoot me. I've only had the car for about a month.

keep putting the "cheap stuff" in and youll be spending a little more that 500 hundred, since your engine is DESIGNED to run off of a gasoline with an octane rating of 91+, thus the HUMONGOUS sticker right inside your gas cap that says PREMIUM ONLY![eek]

Ehh you know more about Audis then I do but most cars say that anyways.

most cars that say it, mean it. though your car will run, it will not run to potential, maybe even pull timing and probably waste more gas than with good gas[down]

if you put 20.00 dollars in, its only 23.00 instead for premium. worth it in the long haul.

lol, tell me where it says anything about fuel besides when using a chip.

No reason to be rude.

Well I had no idea it made that much of a difference, thank you.

im running the 93 octane program with no regrets right now. just when you fill up, dont look at the numbers and it wont hurt as much[:)]

The cars that do say that have timing setup for that fuel grade to generate a specific amount of power, while when you use lower octane the ECU retards the timing so the gas doesn't detonate, this is bad for your car, less power is generated, an Audi is not an econobox civic that takes shitty fuel. First "mod" you should do is put some fucking 91/93 in that car guarantee you it'll feel better.

Its only about $3-4 to put in 93 Instead of 87,

Chip. testpipe, intake. exhaust.

everything on an European car is going to be more expensive. If you want to go cheap, then go trade your car in for a corolla or civic.

when my parents made me stop buying 91 (i get it now that i have a job and can buy my own) my mpg droped by 3, and my car ran like zee poo. and im 2.8, undoubtedly its worse with 1.8ts

if you are worried about fule economy you should not get any performance parts for your car. But if you got to have preformance get the GIAC chip with the switchable program so you can return to stock ECU whenever you feel like it.

So you're looking to mod your car to get more power, and yet you're not even using the right fuel to get the engine to reach stock potential? Seems like you have an impractical goal.
