what's an 84 4000s worth?

came across this car while buying another one, the body is in really good shape only has 89,000 miles on it, but the motor is blown what do you fella's think this is worth. Ive been searching around but I can't find much info on them. Thanks

Thanks, thats about what I was thinking, they seem to be pretty rare. God, it is a sweet looking car. I'll try to post up some picks when we go to pick it up tomorrow.

if the body is in great shape it is "worth" a bit more than 500 even sans the motor. hopefully you can score the ride for 500 tho. that would rock!

actually I got the car for free. the guy couldn't find a motor for it so it's been in his garage for the past 9 months. Me and my buddy just bought two other cars from him so he just gave the 4000 to us. pretty sweet, not sure if i'm gonna put it up for sale right away or swap a new motor in it.
I'm a b5 guy so sorry to sound like a newb but what motor is the AAN?

The AAN is the BEST motor ever made...

It is the 2.2L Inline 5 cylinder 20 valve motor put in the urS4/6's. The motor was stock 228/hp but it will easily make 300 to 400 hp and some have gone past that.
It is the motor AUDI used in its Rally cars for 10+ years!

well it finally warmed up enough yesterday for the snow to melt and to pull the car out of the garage. Found some cool stuff in the glove box, it still had all the original owners manuals and also the original window sticker car was 14,400 when it was new.

I stand by the 20v motor whole heartedly. I was a B6 guy before. I have not turned back.

This is the motor that whopppppppppped competition in the 80s...and pretty much got Audi Quattros banned from most of the comps they entered.

Sure you get the chicks heads to turn when driving a B5 or B6 or B7...

but there is something nostalgic about driving a 20VT/Quattro vehicle.

we're most likely gonna wait until the weather gets a little nicer to put the motor in. it's only a fwd 1.8l that was in there, so a stock motor is what is going back in there. which sucks because once the car is up and running I know i'm not gonna want to sell it, but car space is limited. the is actually parked in my buddies garage at his apt.

Guy at work has a 88 or so 4000 Quattro 10V Turbo I5. It's pretty sweet and has the differential locks. Car has also like 90k miles due to it sitting in a shed for 9 years. It is a money pit in my opinion.

At least put a 2.2L or 2.3L in there. The fwd can handle that fine.
