Well Kim and I decided to go on a trail run w/ some of the socal Taco owners and my friend w/ a 1 month old 04 Xterra.
We took what they call the Main Divide; a series of trails that divide orange county from riverside county.
here's the before pic of the rig waiting for the others to arrive at the trailhead.

thanks guys ya they do these runs periodically and some are actual TTORA events so it really organized.
the lights are 2 fogs outside and 2 pencil beam inside to have the best of both worlds really.
[:D]
took the truck to the touchless carwash last night before coming home and now she's all clean again...no more dirty taco [;)] hehe

Yesterday was such a good time. It was the first time I had ever been off-roading, so i was a little scared when we first started the trail (narrow path & super rocky) but after about 5 minutes I got used to it and loved it!!! Our little guy (15 months old) had a blast, he was laughing or sleeping(I dont know how he slept with his head being tossed around so much) I was the official camera person, so I tool quite a number of pics!! Cant wait to go again!!!

Next time I'm hoping for water crossing, mud, etc...something off these nice little paths you found. [:p]

yah there are some like that...anza borrego but we're not lucky like you east coast folks that have wooded trails all over. and we have to stay on the path as there are environmentally sensitive habitats around

Yeah...gas and go [:p]
At least some three wheeling and full mud and water. That should be the next step, jumping I'm not so keen on.

There is some technique. I jumped my truck a week after I got it lifted (and aligned) and your suspension is much better than mine was. I only had spindles. I was going to get a long travel kit, but I decided to save money for the Audi. Always test a jump at a lower speed before you go all out. Getting all four off the ground is the most awesome feeling. I wouldn't jump the truck too high or often without some type of long travel kit though. Doesn't hurt (too bad) to try!

Ouch! You don't wanna do that. Pretty much wanna get off the gas as soon as the wheels leave the ground. On a side note my friend almost lost his long travel Chevy Silverado into the canal/river this past weekend. He parked it on the downhill toward the river. When he tried to back up the truck kept sliding into the water. Had to get pulled out.

haha some of the tacoma guys went to azusa and played around and witnesses a guy w/ a brand new dodge ram 4x4 thinking he was the ish ended up getting his truck stuck in the water and they had to get him out w/ a 6x6 unimog or something like that.

Thats funny. I used to have a pic of a brand new Tacoma underwater in the canal at Glamis. The guy had just bought the truck.
I just remembered something else. My friend used to have a lifted 91 Toyota X cab and we used to do some "urban offroading" on a jump behind a local movie theater. The theater was of course directly across the street from the police station. Anyways, we jumped his truck so high he bottomed out so hard his tires smashed his fenders and bent his doors!!! It turned out all good though. He changed suspension to a custom fabbed long travel kit that was 4" wider per side and had over 16" of travel up front and a fully caged rear with a four link.
So always take it slow when you first try a jump! [:p]

bhahaha that's some funny shiet!
a recent story was w/ this guy taking some federal/state/local law enforcement officers on the tour of the rubicon and why they shouldn't close to offroaders...well not more than 5 mins into the trail they caught this tool going off the trail and ripping up the vegitation...he got cited for state, local, and federal laws!!!

There was this place that I and many people would go off roading around here. Once you got off the main dirt road the hills and trails would go a long ways. Every once in a while you would get a mile or two in and there would be a Border Patrol agent. Never got in any trouble though. They would just wave and let you keep going!

that sounds like fun tell me where!??! night runs? or day time

Night and day runs. It was the absolute most fun after/during heavy rain. There would be trucks everywhere going crazy. The main dirt road is like a rally course. Hard dirt and lots of twisties. Off to the sides are trails. I think the main road is an actually city road! Its called Proctor Valley road and it has an official city street sign. At one point the pavement just ends and starts again a few miles down the road. It starts in Jamul and ends in the Eastlake area (east and south San Diego). The trails off to the sides aren't completely legal because most are private land. Nothing really on the land at all though. Some parts are kinda a dump. Never got in trouble though. At the end of the road in Eastlake there is a brand new community with really nice, expensive homes.
Oh yeah, one night run we were taking the dirt rally style. We drifting around this turn and as soon as we got around a cow ran across the street in front of us. Barely missed it. We would have totaled the truck if we would have hit it. One night we actually helped dig out a mom (who was driving!) and her 15yr old son that were stuck in HER 4runner [eek]
BTW did you get that link to the metric to standard tire coverter I PMed you?

yeah, got the dc taco also... don't think john would've enjoyed the ride down to mammoth as much in the back of an extra cab! its all stock (besides the rhino lining and snugtop shell). had plans to upgrade it, but mod $$$ is going to the coupe instead. so, i'm assuming you're foofighter on tacomaterritory? i go on there every now and then when i'm looking for info. btw, did you change out the exhaust on yours? mine is starting to rust from my snow trips to tahoe, but i didn't know which of the stainless steel ones is the best (and pass smog).

Did you make the Audizine support vehicle sticker? Would love to buy one as I tow mine sometimes with my Jeep and overall run errands for it, so kind of makes sense and would love to support AZ!
Otherwise, if I can't buy... I was going to say I'll design it again and slap it on my vinyl machine to print [emoji16]
