Hi,

Recommended tire size for your A6 would be a 235/35/19. Anything larger could result in rubbing issues, speedo going off, or abs going off.

Yep, 235/35-19 it is. Unless you plan on raising the suspension or tearing out the inner liners, I'm pretty sure the 255 is going to be a big problem.

Don't know about 255, but 245/35/19 WILL work and give you a little more tire wall thna the 235's. If you're very low, you might rub on the liner which is no biggy, but you should remove the screw holding the liner at the top/middle to avoid rubbing against it.
That being said My car is low and your smight not rub at all. My friends A6 does not rub at all with the 245's, he has Eibach springs instead of H&R... little higher

Fair enough, we avoid any hint of rubbing so our customers don't freak out.

Yup, I know what you mean plus all set ups (including suspension, offset...) make a difference... hard to say for sure unless you've tried it.
YOU guys at the Tirerack ROCK! I get my tires from you guys, sometimes via GMPPerformance in Charlotte but you guys have top notch brands, good advice and good prices!
LOve it!

BTW, will you guys be carrying Vredestein tyres?
I know a few guys in my club who have them on their M3 ans swear by them. ONly one shop sells them in CHarlotte and they say they have plenty of Porsche and BMW owners who get them and come back to get Vredestein summer tires for their cars as theyr perform as well as Michelin and Contis...

You guys know anything a bout them?

Don't know much , although people seem to like them. As far as I know, there are no plans to add the line anytime soon. Sorry !

We're running 255/35/19 on an A6 4.2... we have wider fenders though...
