I thought at first it might be a rear wheel bearing, but I don't think it's that at all. When I am in 5th gear and and am in full acceleration, there is a weird sound. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but its kind of like you can hear your tires rotating as your driving, the sound is kind of like: wa wah wah.

Also, when I am going 50mph or faster, when I put my foot off the gas, I can hear the exhaust a lot more now then I use to?

Anyone know what this could be?

It started a little while after I had my 18" rims put on (had my rims put on 2 months ago, started making noise a month ago). I went to the tire shop and he said it sounds like something to do with the transmission since it's only doing it in 5th gear.

does it do it while in 4th going the same speed. that would kinda make you think its not the tranny... idk

your kinda vague on the description but it sounds like your just hearing more road noise from the 18's when above 50 and the 5th gear noise is your tranny if its only in 5th and not 4th when going the same speed...
