My car has a little over 3000 miles on it. I usually change the oil every 3000 miles on my cars. But when i press the service button on the dash it says the car doesn't have to be serviced until 5000 miles. How often do you guys change your oil?
Do you run synthetic? I change mine every 5000, and I think that might be overkill. Though, I really rail on the car when I drive it, since I have a company car and rarely drive the Audi

Use the search function. There have been several threads debating this issue and I am sure you will find plenty of info.

Using a nice high quality synthetic oil you can get away with 5k or 8k change intervals. I drive fairly short distances daily so I go with the 5k, but if you're doing highway driving mostly I'd say go with the 8K.

Should we go to Audi for oil changes, or can we take the car to a regular old oil change place as long as they use the right oil?

I usually take it to the dealership when it is due, but I drive kinda hard once in a while so I do oil changes between, around 2500 miles or so.
Yes you can take it to any lube shop and have them change your oil or do it yourself, as long as you use a premium synthetic oil.

I think, even it you drive hard, 3K is overkill. I drive mine in the upper RPM's a lot and I change every 5K.
