To those that has the K04, I have three questions before I get into upgrading my turbo.
1) Any problems with this upgrade as of yet?
2) Did you change the clutch tension, or is it nessesary?
3) It claims that the upgrade can go 298mph @ the wheels. What are you getting?
Thanks in advance.

Did you mean BHP, cuz there is no way that little turbo makes almost 300 Hp to the wheels ?

No problems so far, kit has proven to be reliable. No need to change the clutch, k04 turbo looks the same as the k03 sport from the naked eye, only the opening is larger. The kit alone claims 298 hp, so add testpipe, exhaust, air filter, downpipe, fuel pump and you might be looking at 298 whp. Kristokes here dynoed around 260 whp with just bolt ons. The 2.0T platform looks very promising and is mod friendly.
To give you an idea, I haven't dynoed my car yet but I ran a b7 s4 that has 340 hp and I beat it everytime from a roll or standstill up to 230 km/h.

That I have seen done with a K03

yes but my lead was big 4-5 cl by 230km/h :-p Then i had to shut it down. I would say a k03 with all the additional bolt ons is very close on the low end compared to the k04, its only after 100 mph where the k04 will start to pull significantly.

I want to stay with Revo software. Will the upgrade turbo accept Revo flash software? I wonder if this statement is correct that APR upgrade will only support its own?
that's correct.
if you want to keep revo, either wait for a revo ko4 program or kit when/if they'll ever come out with one....or pay for custom programming(time, money, r&d).
your currently software with a ko4 would not be beneficial.

Totally different engine layout from the A3 to A4 so those parts are not interchangeable. Also that motor has strengthened internals and i am sure a myriad of other upgrades to support the power potential of the bigger turbo.

I disagree. I gained 50nm and 30Hp at 3500 rpm over a fully modded KO3(no fuel pump). With the fuel pump there is more low down power to be gained.
I would say a fully modded KO4 would achieve about 250WHP - no race gas, on a quattro car that is. figure in a 30% drive train loss. So thats about 360hp at the engine.

Only problems are codes thrown by one of the cars here in oz. And both have required new transmissions but not sure whether thats due to driving style or increased power.

Well stock b7 s4s are dynoing between 257-262 whp stock. so i would say your 250 whp is a consevative number. try more like 270 whp. quattro is 25% drivetrain loss, 30% is a big loss

REVO has come out with K04 software!!! my mate who is a revo dealer received the programs for the k04 on friday and i am going to test them on my k04!!

I am currently looking into putting an S3 K04 onto the engine.
As far as I've been able to find only the compressor outlet is different, but a new turbo to intercooler pipe isnt that hard to do.
Besides that the rest and manifold are the same as far as Ive been able to tell.
Along with the S3 injectors and a fuel pump around 350-360 chp is possible.
AWE is doing this to a GTi and getting around those numbers.

Wait for the BT option.... I'm sure once BT's out, the price of K04's will drop alittle...

No.
If you want to know why, Id recomend a search, but in short our tranny's our officially rated at 400Nm of torque, below peak k04 output.

I don't think he posts on here, but there was a guy with APR K04/ Fuel Pump/ Exhaust/ FMIC that did 226 whp 274 wtrq this past weekend at EPL's Dyno Day.

I know a guy who has a K04 with fuel pump on a cvt A4. The transmission is holding up just fine.

I have seen 30% drive train loss on my car on several dyno's thats where this number came from.
For me 250WHP is realistic but I tend to be a pessimistic kind of guy so 270WHP could be about right!

I got 197WHP with just KO4 no extra mods. so 226 sounds low for all the gear he has.
I will be adding more stuff soon so I'll let you know.

That doesn't sound right APR says 298 crank, how are you only getting 197 to the wheels, that's close to a 34% drivetrain loss. There are people dynoing 240-260 wheel on here, with supporting mods of course but your drivetrain loss is blowing my mind.

With APR chip by itself I dyno'd 175whp thats about 27% drive train loss.
So by that calculation I have about 270 crank HP not 300. Still no confirmation whether the supporting mods will give me the lost 30hp. Will add test pipe next year, hopefully that unlocks 20hp! (I doubt it)

Yes I get what you are saying also, but 25-28% is pretty much the norm, but almost 34% is huge. At 300 crank the extra 6% from 28-34 in drivetrain loss is 18WHP.
And if you were 270 crank and you had a 27% drivetrain loss you would have around 197WHP, but 241 minus the 27% is almost spot on 175WHP if my calculations are correct.

My point exactly. I only have 270 CHP. According to my current dyno's.
