Been searching around for some good LED bulbs for my city light that will not throw out an error code on my cluster. FINALLY, I found it. A frd of mine in taiwan found the LED bulb that has a built-in resistor so you don't need to do any wiring for the housing, just pull out the oem ones and put the LED one in then you are good to go....woho, no error code.

Here are some picture my frd took from his red B7 after installing the bulb, and yes, he tested it that it did not throw any error code. Mine is coming next week, I will let you guys know what will happen on my car by then.

It's on, wow, nice!!!

Wow, on with the xeon light, matching good.

After turning off the engine, the left out current still running on the bulb, but it will off after 1 min or so.

BTW, if anyone wants to order these bulbs please contact me, before that just want to let you guys know, these are not cheap since they have built-in resistor.

Looks great... where did you buy them? Wouldn't it be easier to just post link/price?

Thanks.

My frd in taiwan bought it for me...so i don't really know where he found it...he just found it-_-
The price...hum, I personally think it is pretty expensive for a pair of bulbs....$40 for a pair.

Hey, I'm thinking of getting a boost gauge. Does the podi get in the way of any of the gauges on the cluster? I was thinking of going AWE, but the podi could save me some money and be a little safer. Thanks!

You can always PM Winston about the podi, "[email protected] " that's his user name on this forum.

Once I get the package from Taiwan next week...I'll let you guys know if it really solves for the annoying error code

Interesting. When you get them post up the manufacturer and item number if its on the bulb and/or packaging.

What you said results in something called thread jacking. You are taking someone else's thread and changing the subject to something not related.
I recommend you create your own thread about your own question next time, haha [:)]

gpxluke... anyway you can get us more pictures? I can't understand how it looks with the current pictures. The light seems to be shining off the top of the reflector for the city light in the first picture, and it seems like the city light isn't on in the night shot. Maybe a picture with the entire front would be good. It would help out a lot and help build better opinion, IMO. Thanks!

A resistor will fix this problem. There is a writeup in DIY I believe.

Sanjman...the one with left out current is when you turn off your engine, there will be still some current running through the LED, so it won't be off immediately but it will after a while like half - one minute or so.

These LED bulbs have bulit-in resistor, so you do not have to suck you big fat hand into the housing and try to do all the wiring and stuff. Probably buying a resistor and wire it up is a cheaper way to go, but for me, I hate cutting wire and stuff and one big point, too lazy to do it myself lol.

Latest news on the bulbs...currently, my frd who tested the bulbs says that these bulbs will not throw any error code on the cluster,,,,,however, it will throw an error code on the VAG-COM

here is a pic

Well, for me, it's not a big deal as long as the cluster does not always beep when i start the engine or display an error code on the screen, I am fine with it.

What do u guys think?

Sorry guys,

the manufacter who sent me another set and yeah bad news, not working on my car...however, I've been also asking for serveral manufacters if they can custom make some LED bulbs that will fake out our stupid computer...and now they are working on it...so hopefully i'll get some good news later...

Unreal. It amazes me how much mechanical knowledge there is on these forums, but the simplest electrical task baffles everyone.

I doubt it...This is not a research project...it takes about 20 seconds to come up with the correct circuit.

I don't know about the city light, but they successfully came up with a solution for the LED license plate light that requires no resistor put in...well, i am not an elecrical guy but well, i'll let them do their jobs, hope they can solve this gay problem.

Could you tell more about that? Sounds intresting. Maybe a link to huh?

Guys, Piaa Tera makes them w/the resistors built in. Go search for them on ebay. They are expensive. I'll just stick w/my wedge 194/168 bulbs
