I have two A5 AT6 orders placed that will be here in April according to Audi... they haven't begun building the automatic A5s yet, but you can order them, hence the delay.

Hi!
Can you actually place an automatic order through Audi or just take a deposit at this time. My dealer told me they can't actually order my car through the system because there is no build code for the Automatics. If there is a build code for the automatic, can you please advise.
Thanks!!

Basically what can be done is that a dealer can take a deposit and take down desired equipment, but the actual order can not be placed until the model code has been released to AoA. I spoke with Audi Distribution North America last week and they said we should be receiving the S5 AT6 model number this week!

I placed my S5 order in early Oct, and I just got moved out until the "first week of May" also. Again, they told me don't have a build schedule yet.

That means I've got enough time to save some money!! [:D]

I ordered mine Mid-Septemeber, but I took one off of one of the dealers pre-orders that was already on the list (I think they ordered it maybe August)... but I was able to change the options still as it had nott gone into production... I picked her up 2 days ago (target date was Dec. 24). =)

Thanks for the update! Have a few questions:
1. When will automatic tranny actually be ready for production or once it shows in the Audi build guide, they can produce one right now.
2. Because manuals have several orders in place, does this mean all of these manuals have to be filled before automatics will start production?
TIA!

Brian, I've been told nobody in CA has allotment for S5 AT6 yet. What do you mean by allotment?
Brian@AudiMV
01-04-2008, 05:41 PM
The allocation just means that they pulled the order into the order bank, and it's in line to be built. It's usually a 3 month wait from when the car gets put in the order bank, but since Audi wants the cars to be released in early April, it won't hit the lot until then, even if it's already been built and sitting at the port.
